This is where we are. On a bright note...look at all those wonderful people rocking the train so helpers could free her leg and take her to the hospital. I hope she is okay.

Something similar happened to my mother about twenty or so years ago. She had the leg treated and politely requested the train company reimburse what her insurance didn't pay. They balked, she got an attorney to write a letter and they wound up giving her more money that she originally asked for. Not a lot, maybe a couple of thousand dollars more, but people need to understand stuff like this.

Also, if you're in a car accident and there's any hint you might be injured, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. Your car insurance will pay enough (or it should and you certainly should have this insurance) to cover the initial ER visit, if nothing else.

Their takeaway was "Watch Your Step". Not how sick it is that a severely injured person should reject medical care because she can't afford it in the richest nation in the world.
