Aussie relative here on holiday...

Made comment about possible Romney Presidency....said might as well elect George W Bush...said Obama's hands have been tied in trying to get anything done.

She's more informed about US politics than the rightwing Republican relatives she's staying with.

When I think Australian news, I think Murdoch, so I'm surprised to read that news in Australia is a cut above the infotainment our news divisions have been reduced to.

Nice change. Minimum wage is $15.17 but housing is not cheap.

I was driving down the road with my Aussie visitor one night when he pointed at the sky and asked, "Is that the North Star, pinboy?"

I looked where he was pointing and then took a couple of beats before answering.

"No, Warwick," I told him. "That's the North Cessna."
