I know the answer to this, and so do all of you, but I'm still going to ask the question because I'd love to read some of your responses: Why does Trump constantly have rallies? We know his ego requires it, but no other sitting President has ever had this many rallies.
He's having the second one of the week tonight. He gets up there, lies nonstop, his dumb as dirt base laps up his shit willingly and he gets to feel good.

I hate him so much, I'd pay serious money to shit on his face...and rub it into his mouth. Fuck him to hell.

that's some viscerally intimate stuff right there, whatever the motivation. definitely a tipping situation.

(129,722 posts)he has the support of the whole country aside for a few disgruntled, powerless liberals. So, of course he holds them only in locations where he is likely to draw an audience, and then he grossly exaggerates the size of the turnout. It's crazy. Even Hitler held the Nuremberg rallies only once a year.

(82,849 posts)As such, closed to the general public, and Trump can tightly control who gets in and who doesn't, whether it's hostile citizens or insufficiently obeisant reporters. For a president who has held one (1) press conference in the year and a half he's been in office, you might think the popular media would prod him a little bit on this point. But you'd be wrong. When candidate Hillary Clinton wasn't holding enough press conferences, those same media outlets not only gave over a lot of time and space for the complaining from the usual Republican quarters, some of them (including the Washington Post) even obligingly had a little clock with a running tally of the time since Clinton's last press conference.
Nowadays? Silencio from the bulldogs of the Fourth Estate. I guess they don't want to make Sarah Sanders mad.

(11,767 posts)He is making money. He is raising his profile with his base and making money off of the rubes. He gets free airtime from the networks. He doesn't have to do anything actually presidential. He is in his element at a rally. All bluster, no substance.

(7,864 posts)We don't have to watch it and he is handing us all sorts of ammunition for this November's election and probably the one in 2020. They are recorded and televised and nobody with living brain cells can deny what he says.
