Sorry, I can't comprehend the graph. The colors don't seem to represent anything to which we usually assign colors. Why are we adding to find a gap?

But the red bars signal a republican advantage, the blue bars signal a democratic advantage.

The "blue" bars look green to me, or, at least, a greenish jade color. That threw me.

If fifth grade students came up with a graph like that, I'd probably compliment them after they explained it to me. But, still, I'd require them to redo the whole thing.

Red and +13 means men prefer Republicans over Democrats by a margin of 13 points. Teal and +2 means women prefer Democrats over Republicans by a margin of 2 points. Thus, the gender gap is 15.

And so on. Think of it as +13 and -2 (to get the gap of 15).

Joy's point was that the gap has grown considerably over what it was in the last 2 mid-term years.

...who (may have) voted for Trump have (possibly) concluded that Trump is, um, less than ideal. Imagine that.

I say "may have" and "possibly" because Quinnipiac didn't strictly poll only those who voted in 2016. Trump won a majority of the white women vote in '16, but his approval rating among white women is now at 39%, according to Quinnipiac. Of course, it could very well be that the poll includes a lot of women who didn't vote in 2016 and won't vote in 2018 or 2020, so there's no guarantee Trump (and other Republicans) won't once again garner the support of more than half the white women who vote in upcoming elections.

On Facebook, among my women friends (mostly former students and teachers), most seem pretty solid against Republicans. There is little Republican support among women who are less than 35 years old. The greatest Republican support appears with my women friends who are over 45 or so.
