Was I a bit uncivil?

I live in a very historic rural Virginia county. In the village that is our county seat, there's a complex of historic uildings, all dating back to 1740-1760: tavern/inn; blacksmith's forge; jail; couple of outbuildings. Also a few restored buildings. We have a blacksmith guild as well as guilds for woodworking, weaving, spinning, and cooking. A gift shop in the inn features products made by our weaves, quilters, blacksmiths, etc.

Two mornings a week I volunteer as dishwasher at the tavern restaurant.

I was washing dishes this morning, took a break to use the men's room. There, on a chair inside the door, was a MAGA Trump cap.

When I went to the men's room three hours later, the cap was still there.

I picked up the cap, put it in the urinal . . . and pissed on it. Left it there.

Was I uncivil?

Reflects what Donald Trump is doing to the United States as a whole. Trump is pissing on the United States, the rule of law, the Flag, our allies, and so much more.

You are a Patriot because you love this country and what it means to you. I wish more would do what you are doing, piss ing on Trump symbols.

And we've all got to let them hear it. They talk tough, like they want conflict. It's a primal dance all less-evolved humans do, but they are definitely less-than when it comes to the Real Thing. Slow, gullible, opposed to adaptation and critical thinking -- if the rest of us weren't helping them out they'd all be dead.

That posturing is their weakness, because they've made it impossible to back down. No retreats or regrouping allowed this time. 'Give us autocracy or give us death!' They're demanding to be the dominant tribe in a Strong Man tribal-style government (MAGA!) but they're all so less-than. Plus, crimes. Big traitorous crimes. Giant, historic, monstrous crimes.

Anyway. Nonviolence is best, of course. But a man's gotta do --

Turn magazines around, give people dirty looks if you disapprove of what you hear in a store, hide remote controls (or reprogram them). Pissing on a stranger’s hat is a new one for me.

But by no means, stand up for what you believe where anyone can see you. How brave, how noble.

I appreciate the sentiment, but the execution here leaves somebody else (one of your coworkers?) fishing a pissy hat out of a urinal. So, 8 out of 10 on substance, 3 out of 10 on style.

of there. Since the hat was there for three hours, the owner must have inadvertently left it behind.
So that person will never know of your courageous act of resistance, will they?

Since I am female, I really do not know what it would be like to find a hat in a urinal, but it would sicken me to see it in a toilet.

What did you accomplish?

And start placing them in urinals all over the country, pissing on them, and leaving them there ...

Those of you who wanna whinge all 'zomg, someone has to CLEAN that' ... nobody at any job should ever have to dig into a urinal and remove 'things' without a pair of gloves, every business provides them for people who have to do 'cleanup'. It's not THAT big of a deal, with gloves on, to remove it and toss it. SO FAR from the worst someone who cleans bathrooms has to deal with on a regular basis.

I think it'd be an awesome form of protest, myself.

You asked for opinions, you got ‘em. Vengeance, especially in the form of crude acts, never serves a legitimate purpose. I never understood why people find comfort in that.

Or I might have gotten a magic marker and made a few notes on the cap and put it back where it was left, just in case the owner returned.
