Let aside her face, as if she's secretly wishes someone to put some Novitchok agent in his food...

(51,697 posts)Such an unflattering dress. She is thin as a rail and the dress actually makes her look chunky.

Beautiful First Lady.
I didn't like all what she dressed (personal appreciation), but most of the time, it was great and perfectly appropriate.
I have never seen her as awfully dressed as Melania.
Cha
(297,655 posts)perfectly all the time.
There were a few times I didn't like what Michelle was wearing but most of the times I did. More than made up for whatever. She has style.
She CARES about people.. melania's coat with this on the back makes everything she wears look Extra Ugly..

(16,975 posts)Ill have to take your word for it. But I do see (well, never mind).
I did do a double take this morning when I first saw it. Horrible!

(6,804 posts)The pattern and fabric resemble semi-sheer bedroom curtains. Her shoes look heavy for such a sheer, delicate fabric.
syringis
(5,101 posts)Her shoes look bizarre too. Obviously she matched them to what she's wearing under her doily.
Cha
(297,655 posts)right, Polly.. imv, too.
The dress is so mediocre if that.

(5,164 posts)But I don't consider either of these crooks / imposters to be real. It looks like a way too sheer prom dress I guess, I dunno made out of curtain fabric lol.

(5,101 posts)I never paid much attention, but as far as I can remember, I never saw her dressed appropriately for the event. Except maybe on the Inauguration day, but really close!
In her defense, I'd say she's not used to keep any clothes on...

Yep prolly true😹 I don't care that much about the clothes, nude modeling etc but this just looks totally innapropriate to me, she would have been better to wear sweatpants lol. You're prolly right about all the other times too.

(30,540 posts)It makes her waist and hips look really wide.
LisaM
(27,830 posts)Like most of her clothes, the dress doesn't fit right. The waist is too high. The shoes are horrible, and her hair should be up.

(12,400 posts)It was modeled after actress Ursula Andres who was a Bond girl in Rumps much younger days. Costly I bet, but good for her. When he topples over, shell have to attract another rich old fart. Excellent plannng.

(5,101 posts)Wait, is it at the tax payers expenses ? In the name of what ?
I can understand there's a budget dedicated to her clothes when she's involved in an event, but here it is not the case. She doesn't have any official role nor represents anything in a NATO summit.
Not that her husband represents much more... but he has the title...

(25,618 posts)go on vacation and buy clothes. All I had to do was Google "Daily Mail Michelle Obama's dresses" and "Michelle Obama sparks fury after splashing out on 6,800 designer jacket for Buckingham Palace reception" popped up along with a long list of similar. My European friends would post such things and I'd have to beg them not to fall for these silly smear pieces. But when it's a Republican First Lady nobody cares.

(19,818 posts)Hiya back.
We know that wouldnt have stopped republicans
From complaining about M.Obama.
And everything the maggot does, he finds a way to put it on the US taxpayers dime.

(6,804 posts)I guess I am spoiled. All of our previous First Ladies dressed appropriately and had their own individual elegance. Now we have expressionless face, really tasteless attire, and stringy hair. I long for gracious elegance in the FLOTUS.

(12,676 posts)Actually, it rather looks like it was the dress pattern mock-up for a different dress using a couple of yardage store discount end rolls (from the household section, where a lot of fabric good for patterns can be found - that fabric pattern really doesn't look like most figured lace veil and sheathing fabric I've seen near the bridal areas) and bias tape, and she saw it on the tailor's mannequin and thought it would look cool and sexy for the summer.
That whole yoked midsection area is not flattering at all with that neckline - should be either scoop necked or high choker with a sheer collar yoke area. With her bust size and that high a décolletage, she needs to be wearing princess lines on her dress instead of all those bias tape bits to "highlight her assets".
The whole thing just looks - uncomfortable and vaguely American garage sale. Like a runway model's dress was re-cut for her - to measurements that were just emailed to the tailor rather than actually measured in person.
While I appreciated the blue jacket dress she wore for the coup ceremony as being well made and appropriate for such an event, I couldn't see a high level political wife from any first world country wearing professional clothes the way she generally does.
Even Laura Bush's famously "Texas/Frontier/Down Home" fashion outfits fit much better and looked more appropriate for the events.
