(15,875 posts)For the one single fact that the mail can be "diverted".. I know that machines can be changed also but one angry postal person could do a lot of damage...Especially if Dems have a majority of mail in's.. He/she could just dump any and all mail in votes and a greater % being Dem, that would hurt...

(15,875 posts)And how do you know some disgruntled postal employee or "contract" delivery person just trashed it?? THATS what bothers me...
My father worked as a postman years ago and told me some stories about pissed off employees that just dumped the mail in the sewer to "get back" at the bosses... Hummmm

(110,324 posts)and see when it is counted.
And if it didn't come some year, I could call and get a replacement ballot and get that one voided. (They have double envelopes so they can protect your privacy while still being able to monitor that they got your ballot.)
But for anyone who doesn't want to mail it in, there are large, sturdy, locked boxes scattered all around the county, in places like public buildings and malls. So you can drop it off there, too.

(3,922 posts)There will be 13 state-wide ballot measures on the ballot in November.
This, in my opinion, is part of a broader voter-suppression attempt - make the ballots hopelessly long, thereby guaranteeing that the measures will not be read properly and that the lines for voting will discourage voters from hanging in there.
Local Democratic clubs are encouraging Floridians to get - at least - a mailed copy of the ballot before voting in order to be as prepared as possible for the actual vote. Many are opting for a mail-in ballot for this reason.
The voter-suppression industry in Florida is formidable. As people get more and more used to quick answers and minute sound bites, the old-school method of actually reading a ballot is a sure-fire way to discourage voters.

(15,875 posts)Now that makes sense.. The vote on MJ in Florida was on of those tricky word games. Yes was really no and no was really yes? Same with Solar energy.
Eschew Obfuscation...

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
