President Donald Trump offered “congratulations” to Russian President Vladimir Putin for “one of the best ever” World Cup tournaments on Sunday.

Minutes after France won the 2018 World Cup event, Trump tweeted out congratulations to both the winning country and to the Russian president.

“Congratulations to France, who played extraordinary soccer, on winning the 2018 World Cup. Additionally, congratulations to President Putin and Russia for putting on a truly great World Cup Tournament — one of the best ever!” Trump wrote.

One of the extremely few times Trump has been accurate about anything. The number of stoppage time goals and set piece goals were remarkable. I think there was only one 0-0 game. The final featured 6 goals compared to 1 in each of the past two.

The new review technology worked very well, for the most part.

Difficult to argue against this being one of the best World Cups ever. In fact, the announcers have been asserting it as the single best ever for more than a week.
