If this does not awaken the Republicans sitting in our nations capital to action I can only conclude that they are wiling accomplices to the attempted destruction of the Republic and the rule of law upon which it was founded.

This isn’t the Republican Party on matters of national security.

To me, the only thing that can explain the ongoing undivided loyalty to Trump is a deep subconscious fear of loss of dominant male ruled white power and privilege. Along with that is fear of minorities, other religions, immigrants, and feminism.

It’s a common theme with his Presidency. Maybe I’m naive, but I didn’t think he would screw it up this bad. I knew he would screw up, but “screwing up” doesn’t give this justice.

I don't have a link or the full quote, but during the discussions there were comparisons to Chamberlin appeasing Hitler.

Whoa - I wonder if this will push some over to going for impeachment?

ETA :

Former CIA Director John Brennan, a Democrat and frequent Trump critic, wrote afterward on Twitter that Trump showed himself to be "wholly in the pocket of Putin" and that his action here "rises to and exceeds the threshold of 'high crimes and misdemeanors'" — the Constitution's phrase for impeachable offenses.

But Stalin got away with a lot. Still, this is a tangent response. The real issue is that Putin's operation didn't just "meddle" in the way of tossing out a lot of propaganda designed to mess with the weak-minded.

Using the weapons of the digital age, Putin declared war on the United States of America and installed his choice as the President of this country. For all intents and purposes, Trump is a foreign agent, working vigorously to undermine our democracy and subvert our elected form of government.

For a non-citizen, this is espionage. For an American citizen, this is treason.
