Who is the unnamed American in the Maria Butina indictment?

According the The New York Times, he was "a Republican political operative nearly twice her age," for whom she showed increasing disdain.

Any guesses?

Paul Erickson is an American conservative political operative and lawyer who has been involved in several Republican presidential campaigns.[1][2] He has strong ties to the National Rifle Association and Russian interests and, as of 2017, was subject to federal investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections.
