(238 posts)Sorry but their god is money. Used the bible to justify every despicable thing under the sun. How about actually doing what Jesus taught which is judge not least ye be judge. Pull the moat out of your own eye. The country is degrading because money is god and we do not take care of our poor, our sick and the ones who need mental health lets just throw everyone in prison. Oh and what you do to the least of these have have done unto me. On a whole the only thing Christian seem to be doing to defending the rich who rob from the poor and middle class. Against worker rights. The old testament told that if a country did not take care of the poor (God's broken vessels) then a) taken over by a another country of strangers or b) the angel of destruction destroys everything the great equalizer.

(154,021 posts)It reads, not that I expect it, as throwing in the towel.
I get their releases all the time, and the tone of this one is...different.

(1,831 posts)Even though I view this as a clever blending of truths and dogma, it IS well written. Thoughtful in some of its phrasing, and it did seem to have a dark edge to it didn't it? Plus the guy was definitely literate.
Almost as if he was envisioning a "Sodom and Gommorah" (sp?) type of thing.
Thanks

(20,627 posts)Why?
And why would you even post this shit here?

(31,849 posts)First, I suspect that "our fellow Americans" are no less spiritual or, even, less God-Fearing. I suspect that there's a reason for the 43% not going to church ... they/we are not buying what you, and your church, is selling - and I do mean selling - (see: your above list of grievances ... it appears you are attempting to assert YOUR will, rather than allow them/us to exercise their/our will ... however, they/we may choose).
Secondly, be careless of what you wish for ... the "revival (of) America" is happening without you.

(135,060 posts)sounds like the same garbage they've been pushing for years.

(154,021 posts)It reads a tad like throwing in the towel.
The tone is just different.
Yes, I get their releases all the time...given some of my locals I really need to pay attention to them.

(20,627 posts)What part?
It certainly seems like they aren't giving up anything.
How is this significant and why post this shit here?
RevStPatrick
(2,208 posts)And I never would have seen it if it hadn't been posted here.

(20,627 posts)You've never seen a fundy letter before?
RevStPatrick
(2,208 posts)Here ya go, zappaman, take your mind off this obviously uninteresting OP.
It's just not that big a deal.
Enjoy:

(20,627 posts)Now, what is fascinating about this letter?
It reads like a typical fundie letter.
Please tell me what I am missing.
maddezmom
(135,060 posts)he's the lesser of 2 evils. Don't see anything really notable here from this bunch of fundies.

(1,675 posts)The first amendment applies to topics you don't enjoy as well. Maybe there are people here who would like to discuss it without being snapped at.

(135,060 posts)the same email you got is on there and don't see it being any different then their normal bigotry, hate, etc.
zappaman
(20,627 posts)how this letter is significant and fascinating.
And, yeah, it looks like their standard crap letter with a "join us on a march where we will ask you for money" ending...

(1,831 posts)Some kind of action?
ALA "Burning down the Evil Empire".
Or just being melancholy?
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)don't expect the AFA to do such... they are the center of activism, but this one reads a tad different than the crap I gotten over the years.
When they have calls for action they are calls for action. This is why this struck me as interesting.
Lesson learned though, not worth sharing these things on DU.
To edit, will self delete, and goes into the list of things not worth sharing on DU... the list keeps growing
zappaman
(20,627 posts)Why not just point out what was so fascinating or significant?
Or why this letter is different from other letters from the AFA?
It doesn't make sense to post something and say it's fascinating without why you think so.
Especially when it isn't blatantly obvious like this letter, which reads like a typical fundie letter.
Damn, will it only be crunchy news from now on?
