yesterday. Since it only has 32.5K miles on it, I think we'll hang onto it for a while. Long term review? Great little car!

(4,545 posts)When I was a young man, I would be looking for another car, or cars, to replace my paid for vehicles. Now, I am in no rush.
The best car is the one without a payment. And I have three (as of March). Granted, one is a 1967 Sunbeam but it counts.

(9,527 posts)I've had the same paid off car for 10 years. So far other than an exhaust leak and an accident, only routine maintenance.

(3,384 posts)my little red Ferrari. Loved that car and wish I still had it. Of course by now it would be as rusty as I am beginning to be. That had to be in the late fifties or early sixties. Had it set up to start racing when the army intervened.

(21,129 posts)My brother was recently reminiscing about the good old days when you had payment books for the loans for all your major purchases. Writing the last check and tearing out the final ticket was such a great feeling.
Now most young folks only know the huis clos nightmare of revolving credit.
Enjoy your moment!

(151,540 posts)Price. It was the least expensive new car in its class available at the time.
Warranty. No American car offered a 5-year, 60k mile overall warranty, nor a 10-year, 100k mile power train warranty.
Space. Its boxy style offers excellent passenger and cargo space.
Economy. It delivers an actual 35 mpg highway mileage.
Maintenance. It came with free regular maintenance service at the dealer.
Timing. The exact base model I wanted, with 6-speed manual transmission was in stock at a local dealer.
Now, go bother someone else, please.

probably be our last vehicle.
Our 2005 Jeep Liberty Renegade has 117000 miles on it and has done is well but things are starting to need fixing. We had to put two different window motors in it and last week had to put a new radiator in and brake pads.
so I guess it is time...

(1,134 posts)My last payment on my 2013 Prius is August 18. I only have 8500 miles on it, and it was 60 months at ZERO interest. Gets 50 mpg pretty regularly and is hard to beat for value. I'll have it for at least 10 more years, assuming I live that long!

(463 posts)Which I bought used for an obscenely cheap price. I'm paying it off this year. Super happy in the pants about that. It will be the first car I've ever paid off. (I always trade in, or in one unfortunate case, my bf totalled it). Feels so adult. Uhm, I'm in my 30s.
If I play my cards right and keep up general maintenance, I plan to have this until about 2025 or so.
But congrats to you!

People make comments about the rust it's starting to show and I just tell them "Don't laugh, it's paid for."

(10,143 posts)To replace my 2001 PT Cruiser with 160000 miles and some things starting to "go". Was looking at used Souls but ended up buying a 2011 Dodge Caliber with 26000 (!) miles. Honestly it was because I liked the look of the Caliber more. Very happy with it.

(5,737 posts)Still worth over half of what when it was new. I drive it almost every day. Gets about 21 mpg at 55-60. Can carry 5 passengers plus me very comfortably. Have a cover for the bed and can haul a Kia if I leave the tailgate down. Plus it was union built.
