About CEOs and shareholders

The CEOs job is to maximize profits for owners (shareholders).

Indeed they have a legal fiduciary responsibility to do that.

Favoring customer interests for the sake of building market share (for example) might be okay. Favoring customers for the sake of favoring customers at the expense of the owners is not okay. The same is true of favoring employees.

I am not defending anyone. But that's how the system is right now. That's how the capitalist system has been since it started.

If there is a failure, it is the failure of government. It is the failure of government to regulate and control the corporation.

Speaking very broadly, FDR reigned 'em in and St. Ronald let 'em loose.

And all we've been getting is 40 years of world class Kabuki. Better than the best you might find in Kyoto.
