Not for any particular reason, except that I didn't enjoy it that much anymore. Also, I quit smoking around the same time, so not drinking made it easier.

I swear, WHEN Trump gets taken down, I'm going to go out to a good bar and I'll be swilling the hard stuff right out of the bottle and dancing on tables the whole night.

they DO go together...stopped seeing the jackass I was with...natural progression...I am with you, tho ..Parents quit smoking as soon as Surgeon General came out with warning...my Ma(87) still says she likes to go around smokers and sniff them !!

I have a friend who said when tRump's taken down, she'll take me out for an expensive steak dinner @ a restaurant that a relative of her co-owns on the beach in So. California (Manhattan Beach, Ca). I've been a strict vegan since the late 1980's, and I got past the taste of meat long ago. I told her, when tReasonous fatso's taken down, and I mean really taken down, buy me a huge basket FULL of organic fruit--something I KNOW I'll enjoy eating and will EAT. I had a friend who celebrated when Pres. Obama won the presidency in 2008, and he lit up a cigar to celebrate, and he hadn't taken a puff in almost 30 years. Well, he's been smoking ever since and can't stop. Want's to, but can't. He's on his 4th anti-smoking med. The anti-smoking patches over the counter didn't work and the other 2 anti-smoking prescribed meds haven't helped. He's had 5 members of his immediate family die from lung cancer (smoking-related), amongst them, two 1st cousins, both of their dads, his brother who died from lung cancer @ 30, and both of his parents died of lung cancer (smoking-related-they both smoked King-sized Herbert Tareyton's since they were both about 18 years old, and died when they were both 66 years old, the same age he is now).

I went thru a happy hour phase many years ago. Party party party. Scotch & water.

After the party phase was over, I quit drinking. I never liked it much, anyway. I usually have maybe one or two drinks a year.

I would never want to tie one on, now. I no longer enjoy the feeling or the taste.

I quit smoking years ago. I quit having even an occasional drink around that time, afraid that drinking might weaken me and lead to a smoke.

When Trump gets taken down...I don't know what I'll do to celebrate. I'll have to give that some thought.

Side note: I recently had some bloodworm done and our hospital has incorporated graphing so you can see test results in graph form going back ten years. Happily I'm pretty much normal except for one set in 2016 where everything spiked. I was perplexed about what on earth had happened. I didn't recall any health disaster. A friend just smiled and said "You do know that was right after the election, right?"
