Let this sink in for a moment.

Betsy DeVos owns a $40 million yacht. Repeat that: Betsy DeVos, the secretary of education, owns a $40 fucking million yacht. And here's the really infuriating thing - it's one of ten!!!!

Meanwhile, American children are living homeless and malnourished while their parents work paycheck to paycheck and teachers have to shell out their own money for fucking school supplies.

MAGA?

Our plutocracy is alive and well.

I cannot begin to fathom the mindset of one who thinks they deserve 10 and 12 of any $$$millions$$$ luxury item. The evil is unthinkable.

Eat the rich indeed.

I was hoping someone here would bring that out. 40 Million bucks for a boat. It came untied from it's mooring, they're already blaming some miscreant. Big deal, $10,000 worth of damage, Big deal. This is sick. Dump that whole gang of fuckers in a giant whirlpool to Hell.

FDR and Elanor were pretty wealthy, as were the Kennedy's. The problem with DeVos isn't her wealth so to speak. The problem with DeVos is that she is the Education Secretary, in charge of setting the Federal Agenda on Public Education, and she has spent her public life trying to destroy public education.

Would you be upset if she owned a 40 million dollar yacht but was working to bring parity to public education, to support teacher's Unions, and other progressive reforms?

The rich get richer, but do they have to get richer so much faster than everyone else? Middle class wages are decaying in real terms. Trump tax giveaway has made it much worse.

It's wildly out of balance and is what leads to revolutions.

It will get fixed one way or another. It is unsustainable.

This inequality if not just ruining our nation - it's worldwide. The filthy rich do not care at all for the have-nots. That is exactly why all of them voted for DJT. I know from my own experience, when you are starting with nothing, it's hard to make it turn into something. You have to be very ambitious and most importantly, you have to get the breaks. When you're wealthy, you can make the breaks, but not when you're poor.

That is systemic as those loopholes have been written into the code by those same rich people. The wealth, greed, which is bolstered by the weird and wrong interpretation of Christianity of people like DeVos, is the problem.

She is incompetent but self assured. A very dangerous combination.

I have no problem with her owning yachts. Her problem is that instead of doing good with them like racing to make money for charity, she shows them off and races for money for herself.

You either produce it, or you misappropriate it from those who did.

If her family built and marketed a better mousetrap, as the saying goes, then they produced the wealth they now enjoy, and God bless 'em.

But I don't think that's their story. I don't think that's their story at all.

What bothers me is that she does so much to block others from attaining a simple comfort level of wealth, much less affording the opportunities for others to attain her wealth.

We stopped taxing the rich in the 1980s. The long-term consequences have been devastating. Every time the GOP gets power they exacerbate the problem.
