"Stonewall Democrats Club Chooses [Andrew] Cuomo Over [Cynthia] Nixon""On Wednesday afternoon, Cynthia Nixon’s campaign sent an email blast to supporters, mocking Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s application for the Stonewall Democratic Club’s endorsement, accusing him of lying in a desperate bid to shore up support.
Hours later, the club, the city’s first lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Democratic organization, endorsed Mr. Cuomo." https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/26/nyregion/nixon-cuomo-lgbtq-gay-stonewall-democrats.html According to a statement issued by the group: “In a time when the Trump administration is actively rolling back anti-discrimination protections and working to erase the LGBTQ community, Governor Andrew Cuomo continues to enshrine and protect our community and expand the deliverable resources that New York State can provide us.”

7. I actually voted for Zephyr Teachout in the primary in 2014.
Cuomo worked hard, and we've made (and will continue to make) progress in NYS. We had a real raise in the minimum wage which will continue to increase annually until 2021, and workers are now eligible for 12 weeks of paid family leave.
In addition, CUNY and SUNY colleges are now tuition free for in-state students who fall within certain income guidelines. Cuomo has gotten some good things accomplished since the last election. https://www.govdocs.com/new-york-state-15-minimum-wage-paid-family-leave/ https://www.suny.edu/suny-news/press-releases/10-2017/10-1-17/tuition-free-suny-cuny-numbers.html |

she did, however, seem more together than Ms. Nixon. Bloomberg indeed.

14. That accusation was way off base.
The members’ emphasis on accomplishments dovetailed with a generosity about past mistakes. Of Mr. Cuomo’s answer to whether he had ever backed I.D.C. candidates, Rod Townsend, the group’s president, called the question “poorly formed,” adding that it should have differentiated between past and future support.
Likewise for the governor’s denial that he had ever supported any candidates who had worked against L.G.B.T. rights, even though he has closely aligned himself with officials like Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, who voted against same-sex marriage in 2011. (Mr. Crespo, who told reporters on Wednesday that he would no longer vote the same way, also won the club’s endorsement.) Ms. Nixon also answered “no” to the question. Her likely running mate for lieutenant governor, Jumaane Williams, has also said he was personally opposed to same-sex marriage, although he has affirmed his support for its legality. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/26/nyregion/nixon-cuomo-lgbtq-gay-stonewall-democrats.html |

16. Aha! Thank You for that, lapucele! Lots
people have evolved on the Same Sex Marriage issue.
![]() I was always for whatever people who love each other want to do. But, there are other issues where I have evolved. So I know what it's like.. not all of us can be perfect like a certain someone who thinks he is. |

17. I think the "liar" narrative may have been started by The Intercept
How long before Stonewall Democrats is labeled as "part of the political establishment"?

18. Of course, The Intercept.. glenn greenwald.
Link to tweet https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=10932750 I'd be surprised if greenwald already hadn't lumped Stonewall in with Emily's List and John Lewis! 19. I saw Nixon being interviewed once and she had a lot of complaints about Cuomo,
but since I don't know anything about New York politics, had no idea if her complains were valid or not. I was just so happy that the criticisms were specific and about a real live person with a name and face rather than vague claims of corruption by shadowy Establishment Democrat elites. This is what it's come to. Sad!
