Op-Ed: Andrea Saul single handedly kills Mitt Romney's hopes of victory
Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul slipped away from the talking points while on the Fox News "Happening Now" program this morning and gave the campaign a brand new headache. This one may be fatal, as it affects whatever base Romney might still have.
While ostensibly on the program to hammer an ad being aired by a pro-Obama PAC in which a man blames Mitt Romney for losing his job and health insurance, and then his wife to cancer that would have been treated under his old insurance policy, Spokeswoman Saul said these words that were followed by a thunderclap of hands smacking foreheads around the nation.
To that point, you know, if people had been in Massachusetts under Governor Romneys health care plan, they would have had health care.
Lord, lord, lord! The last thing conservatives want to talk about, even less than Romney's tax returns (because at least there, they have a common enemy in Sen. Harry Reid), is Romneycare's similarity to Obamacare. Saul's comment turns Romney into the conservative's worst nightmare! Their main complaint about Romney all the way back to the primary season was his implementation of Obamacare on a state level would make him an ineffective messenger on repealing the president's legislation.

(17,505 posts)Bingo.
It's not that Rmoney's people are so incompetent or keep screwing up as much as, there's no way to talk about Mittens without bringing up stuff no one on the right wants to hear. It's simply impossible. They can only (safely) talk about Obama.... and most of the "bad bad Obama" memes have run their course and fizzled out... except of course the millions of ways to point out he's black!!!!

(116,464 posts)Conservatives are freaking out over this because they know the tax issues is killing Mitt's campaign.
It's a typical screw up from a campaign that can't keep its lies straight, and the RW hates ObamaCare, but the "OMG, it's over" reaction is an admission that Mitt is screwed.

That's the expression he should have had upon hearing he was being pulled from the air for violating the morals clause of his contract for his drug use.
No Rock and Roll DJ in America could have been busted for "hillbilly heroin" and been able to find work ever again. Instead, Rush didn't even pay a fine. He just paid the court costs and did rehab.

About the only thing he could do to lose their support is call Sarah Palin unqualified for VP or announce that he wants new laws to prevent insane people, criminals, and terrorists from buying guns.

(1,448 posts)that the model will not work nationally. Is that position rooted in racism? Why wont it work nationally? Is it because MA has a high percent of whites, and many other States have much lower percents? If that's not what rMoney is thinking, then he should tell us. Maybe we can fix it.

(38,211 posts)It's his one big achievement as governor, and it's basically working, so completely disowning it would look idiotic (to himself, which is the opinion that counts), but he also has to ride the hate-machine against Obama, thus magically it works in one place but is bad bad bad anywhere else.

ya what you said... What a collection of morons this candidate and his campaign is...
When you have a candidate with no core conservative principles this is what you get
We are toast
Pretty much endorsed RomneyCare
No. Pretty much endorsed Obamacare.
What a moron! Why didnt he point out that the guys wife wasnt refused treatment, and WAS treated even though there was no insurance, and that under Obamacare, the guy would have to pay a fine to the IRS for being uninsured?
The GOP is dead. The sooner conservatives face up to that the sooner we can get about the business of saving the republic.
These people can be so damnably stupid. What a moronic response to an ad that claims your candidate killed a woman.
I am convinced there are democrat operatives running Mitts campaign. That or they are simpleton morons. All Right! Who is the dipshit who blew our cover???

(653 posts)Coming from a fairly senior GOP pundit, that statement is more damning.
What Romney's spokesperson said is true: if that man's wife had access to RomneyCare/ObamaCare, she might have lived.
So once again, the GOP party is lamenting the truth coming out that healthcare like Obama's could have saved and continue to save Americans lives. They're lamenting something that would be good for average Americans but because they're against it, it was ok for Americans to die so that they could resume their hold on political power.
I find Erickson's reaction much more offensive than anything that woman said.
And you know what? Folks like that don't deserve to be in power and shouldn't be anywhere close to it. When America gets people like that as far away from Washington as they can, America will be much, much better off.
Again, when I looked at the two candidates, their policies and what is behind them, I don't understand why Romney is remotely close in the polls.

(602 posts)I'm sure that Andrea Saul was desparately fishing around in her mind for a good lie, but ended up latching onto this truthful statement instead. The pressure cooker that Romney and his team are trapped in is shooting out clouds of steam -- watch out, I think it's going to blow!

You coasted through school, daddy pulled some strings, you got a few campaign gigs, sounds like people kind of just put up with you, because youre cute, young and rich, and no one wants to piss off daddy. Instead of, you know, actually doing anything of merit. You blew it honey, sorry, but you did.
Maybe you could go into dads carpet business, although I think everyones getting laminate floors these days....

To that point, you know, if people had been in Massachusetts under Governor Romneys health care plan, they would have had health care.
Why should someone in Massachusetts have better access to health care than someone in say California, New York, Nevada, or any other damn state in the union? Isn't this The United States?

(6,160 posts)Today they tried to use Bill Clinton in an ad that lies about Obama and welfare reform. Of course Clinton denied what they said. Hey morons, you don't want to take on Bill Clinton! Best you not attempt to use him in any way.
Then this person makes a remark that praises Romneycare in Massachusetts while Romney is dissing Obamacare every chance he gets.
Romney cannot run a campaign without screwing up.
He certainly cannot run the government of this country.
