How did the whole Friday news dump start? Why would we 'hold' news till less people are paying attention?

6. It's not the Friday news dump. The court where the indictments have occurred

usually seems to drop its indictments on Fridays.

Though I do seem to recall one on a Monday, so Sunday nights I am also sometimes hopeful.
