Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsJunior admitted publicly over a year ago that the meeting...
...was called for the purpose of getting info about Clinton. So, why is it news that Senior repeated that admittance this morning?
If he were to admit that he knew about the meeting ahead of time or that he participated in the meeting, that would be news.
But admittance regarding the purpose of the meeting is old news. Are folks just hard up for excitement on a lazy Sunday?
I'm not saying this whole matter isn't a big deal. It is, of course. But I don't get the reaction to this morning's tweet.

(10,721 posts)But then he was forced to say it only turned into a meeting about adoptions after the initial purpose didn't amount to anything.

I don't really see how Senior repeating what Junior said is big news.
Mueller had that info long ago. Does Mueller have proof that Trump Sr. knew about the meeting and has lied by saying he didn't, or that Trump Sr. participated in the meeting? That's the big question.

(10,721 posts)The change in story happened last summer. Senior is repeating what Junior said in July of 2017.

(10,721 posts)He repeated what Junior had said over a year ago (which is that it was a meeting about getting into about an opponent, and that such a thing is par for the course in politics).
And he repeated what he has said many times before, that he didn't know about the meeting ahead of time.
We've also known for quite some time that Trump did, in fact, advise his son regarding his statement about the meeting.
What part is new? Again, this matter is of importance and may be key to sinking the Trump ship. But Trump's tweet this morning is just a repeat.

But, regardless, Trump's tweet this morning is just a repeat of things that have been said before by either him or his son.

(10,721 posts)Nothing in this morning's tweet hasn't been said before by either Trump or his son.
1) The meeting was about getting info about a political opponent.
2) Point #1 is par for the course in politics.
3) 'I didn't know about the meeting'.
None of that is new. I stated in the OP and throughout this thread that this matter is a big deal. But this morning's tweet is nothing new.

(5,790 posts)Their new stance is, "yeah, we met with Russia to dig up dirt on Clinton - so what?"
The real questions are how much did the Trumpsters know about the wider attack on the electoral system and Donnie's financial ties to the Russian mob.

(10,721 posts)Junior said as much in July of 2017. That it was about getting info about a political opponent and that doing so is the norm in politics. Senior merely repeated that this morning. And then added his usual, 'I didn't know about the meeting'.
There's nothing new here. That doesn't mean this issue isn't a problem for Trump, but he didn't say anything new. I just don't get the frenzy over his tweet.
