When I consider all of the barriers in our way (gerrymandering, voter suppression, the infotainment industry, Russia, and a system that lends itself to overrepresentation of rural America), it speaks volumes that Democrats have as much power as we have (and are likely to have next year).

(10,721 posts)...I like our chances of taking the House in November, the White House in 2020 and the Senate in 2020.
But maybe "power" wasn't the right word to use. I really just mean it speaks volumes that we aren't even worse off, given all of the barriers in our way.

(10,721 posts)...as our candidate got in the 2016 general election is actually quite impressive and bodes well for Democrats.
As for the concentration of Democrats in urban areas, that does pose a problem, but I certainly wouldn't use the word "caged." That concentration, however, does make Democrats ripe for being gerrymandered. Our system lends itself to severe overrepresentation of rural America.
