"super conservative" Trump supporter - wife is deported. "I'm eating my words"

Sgt. Temo Juarez was a Trump guy. An Iraq combat veteran who served as a Marine infantryman and then an Army National Guardsman, his friends called him a “super conservative.” With his wife, he brought up their two daughters in Central Florida. He supported Trump in 2016, eager for a change.

But now, “I am eating my words,” he told the military newspaper Stars and Stripes in an interview published last week.

On Friday, Juarez and his family became the latest victims of Trump’s zero-tolerance policy on immigration.

On that day, his wife, Alejandra, left the country under a deportation order. She had come to the United States from Mexico illegally as a teenager two decades ago and had until now being living undisturbed with Temo, a naturalized U.S. citizen, and daughters, both natural-born Americans. This week, Temo will fly to Mexico with his daughters, 9-year-old Estela and 16-year-old Pamela — and leave his younger daughter there, even though English is her first language. He can’t do his construction job and take care of her in Florida by himself.

Temo Juarez believed Trump would deport only illegal immigrants who were criminals, and his wife had no record.

Instead, as the family fought Alejandra’s deportation, young Estela, with unicorns on her T-shirt, wept as she spoke to TV cameras: “I really do want to stay with my mom and dad. I want us to be together and stay in my house. I don’t want to go to Mexico. I want to stay here.”

I would say that it is heartening perhaps, that he is at least admitting to his error. But his error has cost any possibility of so many millions of innocent people to live free and enjoy the benefits of this society and has instead ensured they will be targeted and otherwise put in the position of being under siege.

A few years ago at a block party back when we lived in the middle of the 'hood, I had one hyper-religious immigrant neighbor (I didn't know the documented status) tell me they prayed hard enough with their minister and Jesus made her and her family white in the eyes of the government "a few months ago". I know my family were the lightest melanin family on the cul de sac and the long-time residents had some qualms about us moving in like we were the first hint of the scourge of gentrification or something like that, but that was so totally, sadly weird that she apparently felt she had to tell me Jesus made her white like my family.
The only answer I had to that was "it isn't supposed to matter what color you are legally unless you're applying for assistance based on a protected status or need."
I don't think that was what she was looking for.

Democrats can take back power and work out an immigration plan that allows his family back into America with a pathway to citizenship and he will still find a reason to vote Republican. I live amongst the tribe in Pa., there is no conversation I can have to convince them that Trump is fucking them over.

I'm going golfing with my 85 year old Korean war vet who claims that the biggest mistake the U.S. made was giving women the right to vote. He then said to me, but my granddaughter is ok, she hates minorities.

...I find that too many Republicans, and Trump supporters, only "get it" when his bigotry hits home.

I have a born again Christian right wing friend. Always spouting the bullshit lines and following Trump. Last year, his son told him he was gay. What a dilemma. He acted like the loving father that he is and accepted and supported his son. Now, his politics on the subject have changed. I don't want to point that out and rub his nose in the shit, but it galls me. I have no gays in my family, but I have always supported all civil rights for all people.

I have supported immigrant rights without having to "eat my words". It's easy to do the right thing. Just put yourself in the shoes of other people. "How would you want to be treated if you were an immigrant, or gay, or African-American, or a woman, or whatever". You get the point.

Now that life has bopped you upside your head, now you get it?

Dude launched his political career by claiming a US president's documents were fake.

Pretending that American-born minorities were born somewhere else is white supremacy. Just like white immigrants like Melania are still considered American. They have already detained American-born Hispanics claiming their documents were fake or they didn't have it on them or whatever. And they have stripped away citizenship from naturalized citizens claiming their was some improper paperwork or some nonsensical excuse.

A lot of Trumpsters want American-born minorities to be deported to make America white. If no country will take us, they'll probably dump us in the ocean.

93. What Were They Thinking?
Thu Aug 9, 2018, 03:02 PM
Aug 2018

I do not know what he and other people like him were thinking. It is a crime to cross the U.S.-Mexico border without having the proper permission; therefore, all illegal immigrants have committed a crime. So, I do not understand why he thought Donald Trump would not deport his wife. I understand that Temo Juarez could argue that he thought Trump meant that he would not deport any illegal immigrants who had not committed a crime while living in the United States. However, it can be argued that not only did his wife commit a crime by coming to the United States without the proper permission, but she continues to commit a crime by staying in the United States without the proper permission. Therefore, Trump and his supporters could argue that he did not lie when he made the statement that he would only deport illegal immigrants who had committed a crime.

Although, I do not recall Trump ever claiming that he would only deport illegal immigrants who had committed a crime upon arriving in the United States. I thought he was opposed to that idea and stated clearly that he wanted to deport all illegal immigrants. Did Trump not espouse the view that all illegal immigrants have committed a crime because illegal immigration is a crime?

What Temo Juarez, and many like him, did was the equivalent of robbing a bank and then voting for a tough on crime prosecutor who said he would only arrest and prosecute bank robbers who have committed a crime. The act of bank robbing is a crime; therefore, the prosecutor would not be breaking his campaign promise if he decided to prosecute all bank robbers.

So many in this country do the same thing but never self-reflect on why they made a mistake nor do they even admit to themselves that they made a mistake in the first place. ...is when it HAPPENS TO THEM!!

Little sympathy for his ilk. Same with our worthless US rep, herrera-buttler. She get's the need for universal health care and coverage for all, ONLY because her infant was born with complications. Otherwise, she couldn't care less. She STILL doesn't support universal health care...such a worthless, rubber stamp tool.

But tRump TOLD and SHOWED you that he was a racist towards minorities, and he TOLD you about his ZERO-TOLERANCE policy. tRumputin continued to call for the death penalty after the Central Park Five were exonerated due to DNA evidence which proved that they were INNOCENT of the crime they were jailed for.

Like YOUR shit doesn't stink Mr. Juarez? You're living in tRumputin's Amerikkka son.

IF the wife was in agreement with her husband, then "OH WELL" to her too

Too bad that this man's kids have such an ignorant & stupid Dad.

this was a guy who watched hours and hours of Faux News and listened, open-mouthed, drool rolling down his chin, to countless hours of "Hate-Radio".

Hey Temo; this Veteran has a message for you-

Go fuck yourself sideways with a First Edition, hard-cover copy of Atlas Shrugged, you worthless piece of amphibian shit!

It's a big city so this is unlikely but if I ever do run into the guy I will tell him sincerely that I am very sorry about what happened to his family. And I'll tell him I voted for Hillary precisely because I expected she would protect families like his.

Why isn't he there with his wife?

The core crazy thing is he still believes in the nation that fucked him over, so much so that he lets it break up his family.
