(48,958 posts)I think it is suddenly a Huge opportunity - but only if a lot of publicity keeps coming - not just about "hisss Collins" - but "Hey Look at McMurry, and what kind of a Representative he could be compared to Collins!"

(53,194 posts)Nate McMurray is the Town Supervisor of the Town of Grand Island, NY. Grand Island is an island in the Niagara River just downstream from Niagara Falls.
What a Town Supervisor is: In most of New York, the counties are divided into "towns." (Populated places are either villages or cities.) Each town has a council, and the council is led by the town supervisor. In places that don't subdivide their counties, he would be Chair of the County Commission. He seems to be liked. He is a lawyer who received the Fulbright Scholarship to study in China, and worked in Korea.
And he's not accused of insider trading.

And NY27 is republican by virtue of gerrymandering and he IS going to win !!!

(1,774 posts)Carl Ichan sells aluminium shares after having strategic discussions with tRUMP who *called to get input* on tariffs. Who else did the F'n MORON Grifter call and tip off about tariffs? And is the SEC checking on short sales made by these grifters? Oh, that's right we don't have any idea who tRUMP calls, who visits the Oral Office or any of the grifters properties. Very transparent stable genius is skating away with $$$. VOTE or we deserve what we have and will get 10x more if the Repubes remain in control.

(24,324 posts)And if there were I am sure he would have been way behind.
But- I have seen the 'wildfire' of organization and grass roots energy here in the last, oh 6-8 weeks. I've been in parades with him and local small town events and have seen how he connects with just about everybody who meets him or shakes his hand... including repubs.
That is 'my poll.'

(9,459 posts)Came to work one morning back in the 80's and found ABC News trucks in the parking lot and reporters in the lobby. Seems that my boss got some insider info and either bought or unloaded stock. And got caught by whatever Wall St. or SEC computers systems were in place at the time - a time when insider trading was in the news, thus the ABC news trucks & reporters.
Worse, for him - he actually LOST money on the trade. Idiot.
He was damn lucky he didn't go to prison, a la Martha Stewart many years later, and he knew it. He paid a 5-figure fine and God-only-knows how much to lawyers.

Berman: The FBI asked to interview @RepChrisCollins and "instead of telling the truth he lied," as did his son, and son's father-in-law. "By lying to the FBI they compounded their insider trading crime with the crime of criminal coverup."

(14,721 posts)That there is only one vacant Supreme Court seat. With this reputation, Collins would be fast-track confirmed by the Republicans without any fuss.
