Among the statements Cutshaw made to police:
She is a "very clean, thoroughbred, white girl."
She was a cheerleader and in a sorority.
Her partner is a police officer.
She had good grades, was in the National Honor Society and graduated from a "high accredited university."

(3,146 posts)If she had simply exercised her right to remain silent instead of drunkenly rambling on she would have ended up as nothing more than a two sentence blurb in the local crime blotter. Might have even been able to quietly put it behind her.
Instead she's put herself out there as a conceited and bigoted alcoholic whose self-esteem is so low that she still tightly clings to her minor scholastic and extra-curricular achievements as a source of validation.

(6,324 posts)Ill tell you what- you tell me the agency they work for, the names, and the evidence you have to make you make this statement and I will make that call for you if you dont have the integrity to make the call.
I am 100% serious on this. Either you report it or tell me and I will.
Because anyone like you described absolutely 100% shouldnt be a cop. And anyone who has knowledge of this kind of behavior and attitude and doesnt report it is just as big a problem, and if they rape under the authority of the badge anyone who didnt speak up and knew it would happen is guilty as well.
So lets get this ball rolling.

(2,807 posts)What are you hoping to say? I have evidence that two consenting adults had sex?
Maybe you're not aware, but there's a certain percentage of police officers who like to have sex. And there's a certain percentage of civilians who like to have sex. There's a smaller percentage of civilians who like having sex with police persons. And sometimes these two groups of consenting adults overlap and want to have sex with each other.
And they do.

(6,324 posts)Its attempted rape, and rape if it happens, in most states.
And in any place its gross misconduct and grounds for immediate termination. When you pull someone over you have legal power over them to prevent them from leaving. Making any sort of sexual proposition at that point is totally unacceptable behavior from any cop, much less choosing to not charge for a crime based on the response.
You are are now attempting to totally reframe this from your initial claim that you know officers who would solicit sexual acts from a person they have legally detained before allowing them to get off without charges to just two consenting adults.
Not even close to the same thing.
I will say it again- if you personally know of cops who do or say they would do what you described in your first post, solicit sex from a person they have legally detained in the line of duty, you need to report that to their department NOW.
If you are not willing to do it, give me the details and I will do it.
Those folks have no business being cops.
But since now you seem to have zero interest in getting what you claim are bad cops younhave personal knowledge off off the force, and are now trying to reframe your claim as something totally different than what you first said, in going to chalk this up to another person just making up lies to bash cops because its cool.
Its either you made that whole thing up, or you really do know bad cops who would sexually proposition people they have detained and your ok with that abuse happening and those people being cops...

(2,807 posts)It has been done before. The offer of sexual favors do get offered.
Yes I know of offers of sex being offered both from police, of both male and female genders willing ro recieve sexual favors to look the other way. And indeed offers to police offering the same deal I am, however, not aware of any police officers, of either sex, forcing sexual favors to look the other way.
I don't condone these things. I don't condone any sexual crimes. But I am aware they happen.
But I am not going to call you so you can get involved. And I'm not going to citizen's arrest anyone. I find that rather silly.
Now, I have said my piece. You can feel free to read me your riot act, tell me what terrible person, I am, call me a liar (again). And Womansplain to me regarding sexual assault, how disgusting you find my attitude, and how my caveman attitude is bad for us at all. But I am rather confident in my attitudes regarding these matters.
I'll close by saying that I abhor sexual crime, sexual harrassment, sexual assault, and bullying of any kind.
Of course these people have no business being on a police force. I agree they have committed a crime. It's my wish they face the consequences for their actions.
My point, my only point in my OP, to submit that it happens.

(37,748 posts)Well my little cream-filled cupcakes... ask Ms. Cutshaw. She's the go-to on the actual reason. She typifies the reason; and that reason being it's a rational reponse to constant and consistent racism.
She did everything typical except preface the incident with "here, hold my beer."

(30,481 posts)If she is saying that to cops, what her and her drinking buddies are saying together is much worse. The depths of racism.

(6,324 posts)Not only did they not share her racism, but they do didnt like it they made it a point to release the dash cam video and point it out.
The PD could have quietly sat on this footage and not released it, and unless someone requested it (and would have to have known something was there to request it) and nobody would have known.
I dont know how it got released or what the legal procedures are in SC to release since every state is different, but either the PD thought her behavior was so abhotthey released it as an official act, or if that was not legal or the lawyers for the PD advised singling her out wouldnt be wise someone with knowledge of the tapes contents tipped off the media to ask for it.
Either way, it shows that the PD is a far cry from the stereotype presented here of the police. First she not got no special treatment before the arrest for being white. Second she was arrested and not released. Third her pleas to get special treatment for being white were not just ignored, they were made public.

(30,481 posts)And law enforcement is fundamentally and systemically racist and oppressive. It is a function of the rest of government.
This doesnt tell some grand story about law enforcement.

(30,481 posts)From coast to coast, with limited exceptions, our government entities promote racist and oppressive policies. An exception here and there does not make a rule. Even under those exceptions, municipalities have to abide by certain federal or state regulations that are inherently oppressive and racist.

(6,324 posts)If you remove the part about racism its totally libertarian and increasingly libertarians are using examples of government racism to argue against government as a whole. I guess Im surprised to see it here and from you.

(6,324 posts)That government is inherently oppressive is a very libertarian concept.
NCTraveler
(30,481 posts)Not sure how that is missed. Guess it's easier to go to some libertarian line.
The current government structure is inherently oppressive. It is a characteristic of our current government.
I know it's sometimes easier to just drop labels based in assumptions not borne out in reality.

(6,324 posts)DUI is bad. Worse than society treats it in my book, but Ive seen more of the real world effects of it.
But its not the end of the world.
But DUI plus your racism and horrible judgement now splashed all over the world and going to live on the internet forever whenever someone looks up up? Much worse.
Same goes for so many other crimes? License plates expired? Thats a small crime. Taking valid plates off another car and putting them on yours? Well using fictitious plates is a far worse crime.
Getting pulled over and you have some drugs in the car? Minor in the grand scheme of things. Try to run and lead police on a chase? You just made it far worse.
Get caught shoplifting? Minor. Assault the store employees and police when caught? You just made it major.
Get a speeding ticket or DUI? Minor. Go on social media and rant that that you got pulled over because the cop was racist and they said racist things to you, made sexual advances, etc but then the police release dash cam footage that shows none of the abuse you allege happened? You took what would have been a small crime nobody knew happened and instead made yourself famous as a liar.
Dont take a minor criminal offense and make your life worse by escalating it.
Lee-Lee
(6,324 posts)They literally are all about their face, they reputation. You never see an ad for a realtor with a picture of a house, you see their picture.
She really took what was minor and made it major.
She has enough money that she could have hired a lawyer and had that first offense DUI reduced and probably expunged from her record after she completed a DUI treatment program. Sure, it would have cost her a few thousand in legal fees and a short period of minor embarrassment where maybe a few people saw her name in one days police blotter in the paper.
But she went and blew that way, way up.
And once again, dash cams and body cams tell the tale.
