(63,970 posts)or at least dying. And even if they do open more mines (which seems highly unlikely) they will be heavily automated and hire far less people than they did 30 years ago.
Sorry, but there isn't that much market for a 19th Century fuel source any more. The market for it is certainly not expanding.

(10,346 posts)Solar, wind have come down so much in ¢¢¢ that coal has lost any price advantage. New nukes are being cancelled. Big Coal deserves to die. Coal country is in tough shape, no doubt, but what would an effective remediation/economic reset be?
