The group Our Revolution publicly endorses Kaniela Ing for Hawaii's First District (HI-01).
Yesterday, Ms. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez visited Mr. Ing, whom she endorsed:
As reported in Roll Call, Mr. Ing was fined back in June because he "used $2,125 to pay rent and $219 to make a payment on his domestic partners credit card account. He deposited a $2,000 campaign check into his personal account and never reported it, according to the commission."
Experts were puzzled by the fact that Ing avoided jail:
"Ing avoided jail time despite the fact Commissioner Gregory Shoda said there were previous cases where far fewer false reports warranted such a penalty.
The level or the number of violations is astounding basically, Shoda said. Every single report is incorrect."
Our Revolution, an offshoot of the Bernie Sanders 2016 campaign, often rails against "corrupt" centrist and Left-center candidates.
As I type this, Mr. Ing is currently in fourth place as primary results trickle in: https://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/hawaii-house-district-1-primary-election

Amazing how AOC is the ONLY Dem candidate regularly trashed here for supporting other Democratic candidates in our primary. Here's yet another thread attacking her for such support.
With all of the almost daily anti-AOC threads, you'd think she was the only Democrat supporting other Democratic candidates in our primary. This effort is a good example why we have the rule against attacking our nominees, no matter how much it might advantage someone's politics.
stevenleser
(32,886 posts)when he was being slammed for his cabinet choices by the same folks complaining about criticism of AOC.
The precedent set is we can criticize any Democrat for their choices at any time.
Those of you who dont like that should have stood up more vigorously for Obama. Its too late to do it now when its your ox being gored.

(94,268 posts)...DU jury is, though.
That's what gives you room to even argue this with me on this thread disparaging this NY Democratic nominee in much the same way right wing blogs are doing.
Bringing up Obama is a weak cover for this thread, and has nothing to do with you're nonsense about 'holding feet to the fire.'
I must have missed your criticizing posts of other Democratic supporters of candidates with campaign irregularities. Forgive me if I don't divert to the wider DU on this, because it looks an awful like you just zeroed in on this Democratic woman, this nominee - a response much the opposite of your concern about what may have happened to Obama.
stevenleser
(32,886 posts)Once again, google holding feet to the fire (without quotes) on DU in the search bar in the upper right yields around 20,000 hits, most of those justifying criticism of Obama.
Most DUers are very familiar with having seen the phrase holding their feet to the fire more times than they care to count. You can try to pretend it has nothing to do with criticism of various Democrats, but no one is going to buy that.

(95 posts)What this shows is that Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & Our Revolution are not infallible. And the fact that Kaniela Ing came in 5th shows that the constituents of HI-1 just might know a little more about who can best represent them than someone dropping in from 5000 miles away.

The very first reply to this post agrees with me. Your post is negative and feeds the divide used by the pukes. The links you provided have their favorite word SOCIALIST in the head line. These young people are the up and comers in our party and if they make a few mistakes along the way they are not even close to people like congressman Collins dealing with millions in intentional campaign and election violations. You post about these young people like they are as bad as trump and republicans? They are not even close. If democrats break the law and are convicted then yes they deserve to have their feet held to the fire, but neither has been convicted of anything. They believe in social issues and there is nothing wrong with that. So, no apology, I support democrats all of them because their opponents are all puke assholes.
The new york times link you provided doesn't even show Ing on the page he is so low in the standing. Your post is more about the young lady and you have posted about her before. Remember she is a democrat no matter how many times the pukes and their media call her socialist. She is an American Democrat thats all.
I have read your other posts you mentioned and will enjoy reading your future posts but don't expect an apology every time someone disagrees with you.
