The first time I saw my mom cry in church was when my sister and I, along with our dance group, danced to Ms. Franklin's rendition way back in 1992. It still hits the soul beautifully.

...there are numerous vids of Aretha singing BRIDGE in various locations and events... I remember the first time I saw her do it on television... she came out quietly, sat down at a massive organ and played and sang. I was mesmerized. Aretha is one of my all-time faves. Safe passage to The Lady and condolences to her friends and family.

83. When i was totally blindsided and devastated by my husband's "midlife crisis" ...

"Queen of Soul, the Atlantic Recordings" (a great box set) helped get me through. I remember speeding down I-5 with my daughter on the way to a family event in the Central Valley while blasting it on the CD player. Very empowering, and eventually helped move me past heartbroken and devastated to just pissed and annoyed, knowing I would be fine (and my daughter would be fine) no matter what.
