Which Republican will drop out after tonight?

My money is on Michele Bachmann. Iowa is her backyard. She practically lived there over the past year. She was the early frontrunner who is left with almost no money and very low numbers. If she lives up her low expectations, there is no rational (yeah, I know) explanation for her to continue. Who else do you think is out after tonight?

After she has a dismal showing tonight. She was apparently born and raised in Iowa, which doesn't appear to have helped her at all.

We will see people drop out after New Hampshire. There have been many examples of a candidate winning NO delegates in IOWA and still going on to win the parties nomination.

Case in point: Huckabee won in 2008 with 34% of the vote, McCain got 13%.

And If IIRC, John Edwards beat out Hillary clinton for the #2 position.

Ron Paul Wins Latest New Hampshire Primary Straw Poll
– January 2, 2012

Ron Paul finished with 1,844 votes (28%) to win the second to last 2012 New Hampshire Primary online straw poll. Jon Huntsman finished in a surprising second with 24% edging out hometown favorite Mitt Romney who finished in third with 23%. Newt Gingrich finished in fourth with a respectable 12%.

Why Huntsman can’t win the republican primaries:
1. He supported civil unions as Governor of Utah
2. He said he would not use federal powers to block a law legalizing same-sex marriage.
3. He threatened to veto a bill repealing in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants.
4. He signed a bill giving illegal aliens access to “driving-privilege cards”.
5. He supports granting more H-1B visas to foreigners
6. He has not taken an anti-immigrant or anti-Hispanic stance.
7. He signed the Western Climate Initiative, by which Utah joined with other governments in agreeing to pursue targets for reduced production of greenhouse gases.
8. He appeared in an advertisement sponsored by Environmental Defense, in which he said, “Now it’s time for Congress to act by capping greenhouse-gas pollution"
9. He worked in the Obama administration as an ambassador to China
10. He is a Mormon
11. He said he believes in science
12. He said he believes in evolution.
13. He has said that President Obama is an American citizen.
14. He is too rational, too normal, too genteel for most of today’s conservatives.

it's good for the country.

But I don't think he's running to win this year. I don't think he's even interested in a VP slot...I believe Huntsman is running to position himself for 2016, when he'll be able to face off against a lesser candidate than Obama.

It's only a week to New Hampshire, and assuming an indeterminate result in Iowa (three candidates bunches together), there's no reason not to play on and hope that the top tier people stumble.
