how many of you are thinking of possible scenarios...(I am listening to The Handmaid's Tale)...

we wake up one morning and the internet is down - or significant altered. The grid is compromised. Some - all - of us end up on "the list" and targeted, in some ways.

Or, the trumpers - the gunner trumpers, the racist trumpers - start to take things into their own hands, fueled by the stochastic messaging from the orange asshole..

I've read Day of the Triffids, 1984, watched (now listening to) Handmaid's Tale - and treat it like entertainment.

But then I wonder how I would react...how i would have reacted if a Jew in Poland or Germany or elsewhere when Hitler started down his path of insanity. Or how I would have reacted during the civil rights movement if I were black, and being treated in subhuman ways.

This is not about being a prepper. Just wondering about how many of you do gut checks - envision what you would do to preserve your - our - way of life - if/when things go out of control.

We live in MOST interesting times - made far worse when a monster like trump apparently is allowed to run roughshod over all that is decent - when a country like Russia appears to have such long tentacles into our current government, our way of life.

I'll answer - I haven't spent much time thinking - well, I do in the abstract, but only as a form of a movie, or entertainment. But if things seriously did hit the fan - I am not sure I've really thought through what my wife and I would realistically do. I know what I HOPE we can do - but....this is where I hope Mueller, the outcome of his work, locates just a few republicans that still love our country and people enough to take a stand.

1. The Manafort judge intimated that jurors are receiving threats.

If Manafort is found not guilty it could be due to jury tampering.

This is another actual step towards what you are imagining.

3. Fact checking here - are you sure jurors are receiving threats?

I read that the judge has received threats, and he’s keeping the names of jurors sealed to keep them safe.
Do you have information jurors have been threatened? If so, can you post a link to it? Thanks!

6. This article says they may be receiving threats, but no, it's not clear.

But if they hear the judge was threatened that certainly would make them feel that they could be under threat too.

Here's the article.

“A thirsty press is essential to a free country,” he said.

I know he’s getting a lot of criticism but glad he said this.

during the ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone, because I have some strong ties with the local Sierra Leonean community, after another storm that flooded us but didn't have much of an effect anywhere else.

I feel silly admitting this, but I have food and money for two months in my home.

I assume I'll never need them, but it's like carrying an umbrella. If you have one, it won't rain.

One cousin who was a pharmacist gave his young, healthy brother-in-law some kind of medication to make him sick so the Nazis wouldn't conscript him. It worked, but the pharmacist faced grave consequences had his efforts been discovered.

Mostly, they kept their heads down while despising the Nazis.

Another cousin had an SS officer living in her apartment building. After the Allies drove him away, the building's residents looted his apartment. The cousin, a woman and teacher, was always very proud of that and saw it as taking revenge for years of fear.

I don't know what I'd do, but in a "Handmaid's Tale" scenario, I'd likely be sent to the Colonies.
