Oops. Papadopoulos didn't delete his Facebook in time.

@emptywheel

This guy was being handled (by Ivan Timofeev, the Russian none of the propagandists want to admit Papadooulos hid from FBI) over FACEBOOK. When Papadopoulos knew they had him, he tried to delete the Facebook account over which he was being handled.

@emptywheel

Oops.

Papadopoulos didn't delete his Facebook in time.

So when York and other propagandists say, "Papadopoulos didn't give them much" they mean, "that conducting spying over Facebook won't already give you."

?

@emptywheel

In any case, the evidence all suggests that:

1) FBI delayed far beyond they normally would in obtaining call records.

2) Once they obtained records, they had a great deal of what Papadopoulos tried to hide.

Marcy Wheeler (an accomplished attorney despite failing to identify herself as anything but "emptywheel" on her twitter account, as I guess we are all supposed to KNOW because you know, she is just soooo cool (I'll leave off the eyeroll, so that I don't "run out" ) states:

1) FBI delayed far beyond they normally would in obtaining call records.

2) Once they obtained records, they had a great deal of what Papadopoulos tried to hide.

So, what the hell is she trying to convey? Did FBI INTENTIONALLY delay obtaining call records as some tactic or is she saying they were somehow incompetent on this score. She says (rightfully that FBI moved slowly due to the campaign but that "Papadopoulos' OpSec sucked royal ass".

I realize some of these regular twitter types think the entire world follows their every word and thus should be able to understand complex thought, cynicism, irony, facetiousness or "just how cool they are" in 140 characters, but this is ridiculous, iMO. She is hardly the only one. I just think that if one wants to make a complex point, they owe to both newcomers and regular followers of an issue to make sure the context is clear. Even if that means they have to point to an actual BLOG post instead of a mere 140 characters
