John Brennan Stands 'Very Much By' Trump Treason Claim on Meet the Press: 'I Don't Think I'm Being P

Former CIA Director John Brennan appeared on Meet the Press on Sunday, and told host Chuck Todd that he could possibly fight President Trump in court over the revoking of Brennan’s security clearance, that he doesn’t believe his speech up to this point has been political or politically motivated, and that he stands by his prior assessment of Trump as treasonous.

“You have been more outspoken than relly any former official. It may be why many Republican legislators feel comfortable taking the president’s side, they believe your comments have been over the top,” said Todd. “Do you regret essentially accusing the president of treason? Do you regret some of the things you have said?”

“Well I called his behavior treasonous, which is to betray one’s trust, and to aid and abet the enemy, and I stand very much by that claim,” Brennan answered.

“You are the former CIA director accusing the sitting president of the United States,” Todd pointed out. “It’s not a private citizen. A lot of people hear the former CIA director is accusing the sitting president of the united States of treason, that’s a monumental accusation.”

“Well, I think these are abnormal times and I think a lot of people have spoken out against what Mr. Trump has done” said Brennan. “I think I need to speak out. And so I’ve been speaking out rather forcefully because I believe it’s important to do so. I don’t believe I’m being political at all. I’m not a republican, I’m not a democrat.”

accused of anything, even if it's true. What Todd seems to be saying is if you worked for the government previously you don't have the right to say what you believe? I hope Brennan keeps it up and others join him. That's being a true patriot.

Chuck Todd is the worst interviewer since David Gregory and Matt Lauer.

He ask only binary questions... Looking for the quote he can use later like Tim Russert, but he has no clue.

... and he doesn't go beyond that. I don't see Chuck Todd listening or reacting to anything that's being said in the interview. Maybe he isn't terrible, but he rarely goes for the "gotcha" questions. It just means he's boring and predictable.

But on the other hand, it's possible that Todd avoids the "gotcha" stuff because he interviews people on Meet The Press who would never agree to be on the show if he did that. I think Tim Russert also had that friendly, non-threatening manner and that's why he was popular during his time on the show.
