(10,833 posts)I'm a retired lawyer and the thought of someone actually allowing me to be on their jury was hysterically funny to me. Unfortunately I was excused on a peremptory challenge. If chosen I would have definitely send a note to the judge asking to see the lunch menu.

Give me 40 years and I'll have a more relaxed attitude about it.

(11,197 posts)My legal address was the next town over (and I was temporarily living in the city). I got my full pay from work, plus the daily stipend, plus the round trip mileage allowance from my legal residence (I walked to court every day). The money I got from jury duty covered my Christmas shopping that year. I never got picked for a jury panel and it was like being on vacation.
