While 87% of Republicans approve of Trump( which is irrefutable proof of their moral bankruptcy), only 26% of Americans identify as Republicans. Do the math.
Couple this with the fact that a majority of the Senate represent just 18% of Americans and that, due to gerrymandering and voter suppression, Democrats have to get 7to 8% more votes "just to break even" and you begin to understand what we are up against.
Republicans now urging "civility" will get it---as soon as they publicly renounce Trump and help impeach and prosecute him. Until then, they stand with him and I am justified in detesting them as the moral pygmies they are and treating them accordingly.

(10,721 posts)...tyranny of the minority and the electoral college. And gerrymandering, which is easier for Republicans to utilize to their benefit (due to Democrats being concentrated). And voter suppression.
But I will point out what I pointed out in another thread on this same topic, Trump's approval rating is still 40%. Let's remember that the vast majority of so-called "independents" are very partisan. They are not swing voters. They are partisans who just like calling themselves "independent," and many of them are Republicans.
Of course, I also want to point out that the largest single bloc in the US are the disengaged, many of whom probably don't even know this is an election year.

(58,724 posts)That would have to be added to the total percentage of Americans, wouldn't it?

(10,721 posts)...have to take so-called 'independents' into account. The fact is Trump's overall approval rating is still around 40% and has been steadier than any of his predecessors.
