Cops: Unhappy patron kills three at Alabama strip club

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by UnrepentantLiberal (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Three people were shot and killed and another injured by a dissatisfied patron of a strip club in Alabama late Thursday, police say.

Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes told NBC News the shooting happened at Teasers, a topless nightclub outside of Dothan, Ala.

Police arrested the alleged shooter, Ryan Clark Petersen, 22, at 7:30 a.m. CT and charged him with three counts of capital murder and one count of attempted murder.

---

Hughes said that a dispute erupted in the club after Petersen complained about a dancer's performance and began touching her. A club employee asked Petersen to leave and escorted him outside. Petersen then allegedly went to his car and retrieved a handgun and reentered the night club and opened fire.

I've been in bars where someone gets tossed for their behavior, and they often heatedly argue the point. I don't understand what they think the outcome will be. Why would they want to be somewhere they so clearly aren't welcome?

This is a gang mentality where an idiot shoots someone who dissed him to protect his honor and reputation. Now he'll have a lame story to tell in the exercise yard after someone asks "what are you in for?". I have a feeling his problems with respect and peer acceptance are just beginning.

It's a shame he had to hurt so many families just to prove what a dumbass he is.

Use a gun illegally -- get castrated.

Sounds like a good idea -- guns would be selling for 50 cents on Craigslist as people tried to get rid of them. It wold probably bring gun violence down to close to zero.

how he can use SYG?
He wasn't being threatened, he was escorted out, he went to his car and retrieved a gun and re-entered the establishment and shot and murdered 3 people. That's 1st degree murder, not self defense so I find your claim to SYG a little troubling.

it's just as bad. This guy was not threatened in any way, he was escorted out, all he had to do was get in his car and leave and we wouldn't even been talking about this, instead, he went to his car, retrieved a gun, went back into the establishment and murdered 3 people in cold blood.
Clearly no SYG defense here, just 1st degree murder which I don't think the DA will have any problem proving, and I hope to hell there is no plea bargain.

I don't think Zman's claim of SYG is going to work, at least, I hope not.

In a post NRA world, not so much and this is especially true in the south.

Not only would this not be the first time someone has used the SYG defense in a bar shooting, it wouldn't be the first time someone had SUCCESSFULLY used the SYG defense in a bar shooting.

That's all I have to say about it in the Lounge. If you want to debate the subject further, I'd advise a trip to the gungeon. I'm sure there's plenty of folks willing to go ad nauseum on the question.

Correction: The gungeon doesn't feature "debate", instead 95% of the posts are either:

1) Strawmen Construction Projects by gun-relgionists, followed by congratulating each other for how wacky those Liberal "gun-grabbers" are, or

2) NRA Talking Point recitation; debunking of said Talking Points doesn't stop their posting and re-posting dozens or hundreds of times.

this guy had been trespassed off the property, he returned, so he was breaking the law when he returned which nullifies the SYG defense.
He will be charged with 3 counts of 1st degree murder and spend the rest of his miserable and wasted life in prison if he doesn't get the DP.

Strip joints can be made very safe by requiring all the workers to carry around big guns whilst they take off their clothes.

The downside is that gun-relgionists will descend on these places in droves, as the sight of women cradling their Precious (guns) will turn the religious types on like nothing else.
