(4,254 posts)and that Trump would be able to kill the investigation and issue pardons. He has given up on that. I think it is possible that he was working solo as it pertains to the Russians which means it would be hard for him to get a deal from Mueller.

(60,320 posts)Might be worse for him to be pardoned and have to testify at a long parade of Fed trials and state trials.
Plus he'll be wandering around avoiding tea and umbrellas. Even so, he'd never dare move or even travel outside of the USA. Accepting deliveries becomes very problematic. How much would you need to be paid to open packages addressed to Manafort? Can he ever eat out at a restaurant again?

(5,837 posts)(CNN)Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort sought a plea deal before his trial in Washington, DC, federal court next month, but talks stalled over issues raised by special counsel Robert Mueller, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
Manafort was found guilty last Tuesday in a separate trial in Virginia federal court on eight counts of financial crimes, including tax fraud, bank fraud and hiding foreign bank accounts. He faces a second set of criminal charges next month in Washington of failure to register his foreign lobbying and money laundering conspiracy.
Manafort's prosecutors hope to show ostrich jacket photo to DC jury
The talks between the defense and prosecutors occurred last week as the Virginia jury was deliberating, people familiar with the matter told the Journal. The newspaper said it was unclear what issues Mueller raised or what terms for a potential plea might have been proposed.
Representatives for Manafort and Mueller declined to comment to the Journal."
My hunch is that Manafort might be offering too little too late and Mueller already has learned enough from other witnesses.
