I wish her well, and hope her grief is lessened by the great deeds that he carried out and the accomplishments too.

(24,928 posts)My great aunt died in 2017 at 100 years. She had no children, but she not only buried all but one of her siblings, she also went to several funerals of her nieces and nephews.
She said that was hard. She felt badly for them because they died too early

(3,021 posts)wondering, worrying, what her son was going through. I know she was supported by military friends and family whose understanding and traditions I will never know, but there had to have been middle-of-the-night hours when that just wasn't enough. Nevertheless, she persisted.

Its like one of those fables about people cursed with immortality who have to watch everyone around them die.

(667 posts)I bet she never waited on line at the VA for healthcare. And back the day she probably had Filipino stewards and drivers. The Navy was a far different place than it is today. RHIP baby, RHIP. Carry on.
