but I think that his incompetent staff does not know how to transfer a call into that office and tRump does not know how to take a call in that office is because he is never IN that office.He does not WORK at the Resolute desk like other presidents have. He does not WORk at all in a conventional way as we understand the presidency. He uses the resolute desk as a photo-op.

The scary part of this observation is, of course, if he is not running the country; who is?

9. My guess is that if he had kept his hands off the phone, it would have worked.

But he had to feel important and push a button, disconnecting the phone from the call. I suspect that the guy who had to fix it for him is now suffering from 3rd degree burns after being dropped into a flame pit.
