I don't care how left, center, or right a candidate is......

....in *THIS* election year, I am voting for the person on the ballot with a (D) next to their name.

This is the *REAL* "Flight 93 election".... The Democrats MUST take over at least the House. It is a MUST, for the survival of our Republic.

It is all about the numbers 218 and 51. Whatever gets us to 218 (D)s in the House and/or 51 (D)s in the Senate is *ALL* that matters.

We need the subpoena power that comes from being in the majority. America needs it. It is the only thing that can make Trump's life a living hell and lead to his resignation.

23. I used to be an Independent, but strongly leaned toward the Democrats.

Aug 2018

My first vote for President was for Kennedy and I have voted only for Democratic presidential candidates. I was of the mind set that I should consider the qualifications of the candidate before party. However, beginning with Nixon and followed by Reagan and the Bushes, I became increasingly convinced that not a single Republician candidate for any office deserved my vote. The Republicans inability to hold any of their members accountable for outright crimes and abuses of office convinced me that their party doesn't have moral base.

It has gotten progressively worse since I cast that first ballot to the point that they nominated a man for president and succeeded in getting him elected who is the living epitome of evilness. Not, some flaw as all are subject to, but a person of total of moral turpitude. It is inconceivable that a man such as Trump, who is a prime example of abject depravity, would be welcomed as their standard barer. It can only be concluded that a major number of the citizens of our nation, a nation which has been the example of the quest for equal treatment and justice for all mankind, has degenerated to the level that would not only tolerate, but sanctify the leadership of a man of absolute moral depravity.

I have seen candidate after Republican candidate worship and seek the endorsement of a degenerate like imps' adulation and celebration of the personification of evilness. These are not the lowlife, immoral degenerates, but those held in honor including Christian leaders of their communities. The conclusion if this: the Republican Party has hit rock bottom and is morally bankrupt. It is of no wonder that they would enrich the wealthy at the expense of the working class and take delight in depriving millions of basic medical care. They drip with hatred and contempt without a shred of compassion for their fellow mankind as they gleefully strangle the powerless to enrich themselves.

I have come to the conclusion that a vote for any Republican has become vote for the tolerance of lawless and unrestricted immorality.

well said.

The intellectual facade of "compassionate conservativism" has been exposed for the sham it always was..With the GOP today, intrinsic human rights are not safe, labor protections are not safe, environmental regulations, public services are not safe - whether schools, hospitals, basic health care, not even jobs, neither the economy - nothing is safe. They have become beholden to Dominionists and Anarcho-Capitalists.

It's not just about money either, the foundation of the GOP is a sick ideology of selfishness, anti-intellectualism and extreme individualism.

Wish I could put your last 3 paragraphs on billboards and in waiting rooms. A steady dose of such truth might snap some cultists out of their mesmerized state.

My first ballot was cast for George McGovern. I'm just a little behind you. The 2nd election of Nixon was a shocking eye-opener to me. Rotten Ronnie plunged me deep into cynicism and Duuuhh byuh made me vow to never again "consider the qualifications of the candidate" even at the local level. I'd vote against the R even if the only opponent was a bag of last week's cat shit.

It doesn't do much good here in Oklahoma but we will be voting straight ticket again in hopes of at least showing someone is sane down here. Stitt won the gubernatorial runoff on the Republican side and he is a complete Trump clone. I have hopes that Edmonson can beat him, but rural Oklahoma will turn out in droves to vote for the guy like Trump.

But I don't care if he stays in the senate. He is too in the pocket of the nra and putin for anyone thinking rationally though. Just stay out of the presidential race if you ran in 2016. Across the board. Especially stein and sanders, but we don't need to worry about anyone else.

If you ran in 2016 past July, you are poison in 2020. Period.

(Wiki snip)

Yellow Dog Democrats was a political term applied to voters in the Southern United States who voted solely for candidates who represented the Democratic Party. The term originated in the late 19th century. These voters would allegedly "vote for a yellow dog before they would vote for any Republican". The term is now more generally applied to refer to any Democrat who will vote a straight party ticket under any circumstances.

37. I would prefer "FedEx 705 election"
Thu Aug 30, 2018, 12:00 AM
Aug 2018

FedEx 705 is a DC-10 the company still uses. On April 7, 1994, an employee who was about to be fired for cause decided to kill a crew with hammers and crash the airplane they were flying so his ex-wife would receive the payout from his company-provided life insurance policy.

The crew had other ideas: while the pilot and flight engineer were beating the shit out of the disgraced employee, the first officer was busy throwing the plane all over the sky. Eventually they got the plane safely on the ground in Memphis and the cops hauled the attacker off. All three of the crew, sadly, have not been cleared to go back to commercial flying. The assailant is doing two consecutive life sentences in federal prison.

His wife did not receive the payout from his life insurance.

The moral of this story: do whatever the hell you have to do to end a threat.

Now.....Drumpf had made noises about running as a Dem....That would have called for who would do the least harm which would be virtually anyone but him. So absolutes can be tricky.
