Don't ask for quarter now that the wind not only shifted against you, it's at gale force and rising, because it ain't gonna happen.
You told us about your upstanding character as being one of your qualification to be president, and when your vindictive, petty, bullying real self was presented to the American public, they questioned not only your character, but your judgment in dealing with people you deemed as inferior, and you wanted us to stop talking about that.
You touted your business expertise as one of your bona fides to be president, and when rightly called out as a Vulture Capitalist that destroyed livelihoods, businesses, communities, and offshored jobs by the thousands, you wanted us to stop talking about that unfortunate set of facts.
You boasted about your plan for medical care for citizens of the state of Massachusetts as the ideal format for health care reform nationwide, until the Teabaggers rose up in opposition to any type of reform for any reason, so you, too, came out against the very plan you created, and now want everyone to stop talking about that accomplishment so you can then deny it ever happened.
You thought that by just stonewalling on the tax issue, the rest of us lesser intellects would just get bored with it and let it slide, which is the very tactic used by you to great effect your entire political life, and are not only refusing to release that information to the country, but are now plainly terrified that the secrets contained in those tax returns will come back to personally destroy you.
Your entire life you have been used to telling your paid underlings, flunkies, factotums and functionaries what to do and what to say, and they have always dutifully done so, as they were being paid by you and did not want to lose their sinecures within the Romney Dynasty.
You assumed that is how it works out in the Real World, you just tell any of the "Little People" to shut the fuck up, and they will just tug their forelock in obeisance, bow and scrape and willingly comply with your Lordly wishes.
Boy, did you think wrong.
We are not going to accept your White Flag now that the tide of battle has turned against you and you now ask for mercy.
"No Quarter!" was the cry from your side from the outset.
NO QUARTER IS TO BE GIVEN IN RETURN.
Enjoy your defeat, Oh Prince Mitt.
It will make history.

(1,831 posts)While so eloquent, and to be relished in its own right, must reaffirm our push to keep that bastard out of the office, of the primary hope for our future.
The right hasn't played all its cards. Or ceded anything. If we don't push this fucking prick back every step of the way, it's within the realm of possibility that the weak minded will be swayed to a great enough degree to put a legal seal on this path to the dark ages.
To re-quote...
NO QUARTER IS TO BE GIVEN

(23,973 posts)You hold back nothing.
You never let up, at any time, for any reason.
When your opponent is seen to falter, you exploit that weakness, no matter how slight, with every resource at your disposal.
You hammer him at his strongest point, hoping he then diverts all of his attention to defending himself there, and then exploit the weakness on his exposed flanks.
You whipsaw his defense, keeping it off-balance and catching it flat-footed as he starts to second-guess how to respond.
He starts to make major mistakes.
He gives ground in a desperate attempt at re-grouping.
We have seen most of this unfold already.

(18,219 posts)They are sitting on a shitload of money, and they intend to use it. And then there is the Super PAC money, and of course, that is not supposed to be done by the candidate----so if we were to let up, even a tad, the PACs will be on us like flies on shit. And Mittens can say that he is not the one playing dirty, his hands are tied to stop it.

(23,973 posts)The narrative has been set already by the Obama camp, and the Romney response thus far is to run up a white flag.
This tells me that they are desperately seeking breathing room, because they have nothing left to use as ammunition.
Mitten's campaign is foundering, right now, and don't think for one second that the Obama campaign has used all their ammunition yet.
There is more to come.
The Romney Camp violated Rule #1...
Never Under-Estimate Your Opponent.
You do so at your own peril.

(18,219 posts)I have a more cautious view. I think soon we will be seeing too much from the right in ads, and I will be surprised if those ads are not attacking the debt, the economy, jobless rates, the prices of gas and food and anything else that will be up, the costs of health insurance still increasing, and all the other weaknesses this country is going through. I am not underestimating this opponent either.
Ikonoklast
(23,973 posts)The money they have spent thus far has not been spent in an effective manner, and I see no change in those tactics as of yet.
Their attempts at attack ads are mediocre, they have only landed glancing blows at best.
When your political opponent controls the narrative, you end up being in response mode instead of continual attack mode as a default.
And with the Ryan pick, the Romney camp now has to defend that budget to voters, as it now belongs to them, part and parcel.
More wasted money, time, political resources.
Curmudgeoness
(18,219 posts)Good luck defending it, Romney!
You are right that the ads so far have not resonated with anyone but the base of the GOP, who were already going to vote for Romney without question. We do have to keep up the attacks. (God, I hate having to say it that way, but this is a life and death of America situation.)

(53,661 posts)The Bloodied Romney Businessweek Cover That Hasn't Run posted Jan 23, 2012
This image, which appears to be a cover of Bloomberg Businessweek that has not at least yet run, was unearthed by Capital New York's Azi Paybarah. Bloomberg Businessweek editor Josh Tyrangiel tells BuzzFeed they didn't use it because it didn't meet the zeitgeist. It does now.

Romney was savaged by all his competition this year in the primaries. Honestly, I don't know what's up with this guy. Is he man really this clueless?
(P. S. Sorry for the wing nut photo link, but the one for BuzzFeed didn't work, but google took me to the other one.)
