(16,783 posts)Cindy McCain has shown the same class and dignity. May she know that this Nation is grateful to the service her husband gave , and that her sorrow in private be hers as she remembers the years she was blessed to have the love of a man who was beyond good to her.

(8,311 posts)... she's grateful her husband's life is getting such recognition, and grateful so many people want to show they care.
Meghan has been able to use the fact a grieving daughter is allowed and even expected to bawl to be able to get out some of her emotions during these ceremonies, but the role of a widow in a military funeral is so formal, she's gotta hold herself together, etc.
It's probably going to be tomorrow night before she can really let go of all that public self-control and grieve. I hope she's at least doing what my mom felt she had to do when my grandfather died... even though she was his only daughter, she had us girls and her mother... Granny and I comforted each other by sharing our grief, but Mom felt she had to be "the strong one". She did her crying in the shower so we wouldn't see.
