(59,504 posts)The last time he was asked - he said that he was not thinking of 2020 when Scarborough asked. No matter what he said - Scarborough responded that he did not completely rule it out.
This was suppose to be an interview on his memoirs. He was a key figure in many many things over his long career - yet the media has a fascination with just one question - are you running in 2020. This is the SAME thing they did to HRC. I would imagine that if anyone - Kerry included - had any thought of running there are obvious things they would do. One key thing is to have a PAC that could start accumulating contributions. Another would be there would be rumours of them reaching out to get key people who head campaigns. Not to mention - going to places like Iowa and New Hampshire.
The places on Kerry's book tour are big blue cities. This is what would be expected if you want to sell books ... not if you want to quietly put your toe in the water for 2020. Also, it is well known that Teresa, of whom he said in 2004 that he would not have run without her support, has had health problems.

(58,724 posts)Somehow they morph that into: "John Kerry won't rule out 2020 White House run" when he expressed no interest in that.
