Jimmy Carter on the Con's lying

I loved his use of the word deplorable.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jimmy-carter-on-donald-trump-the-incumbent-president-is-very-careless-with-the-truth/
In an interview with "CBS This Morning" co-host John Dickerson, former President Jimmy Carter called out President Trump for being "very careless with the truth."

"You said that you thought telling the truth was important when you were president, but you seem to suggest it might not be so important to the presidency," Dickerson asked Mr. Carter.

"Well, that seems to be the case now. I think it's well-known that the incumbent president is very careless with the truth. Telling the truth has been pretty deeply ingrained in me, and I think that makes it even more deplorable to me to see that it has been abandoned by some people," Mr. Carter said.

...because of his Transportation Secretary, Brock Adams, (with his permission) ordered in 1977 that cars made after 83 or 84..."all cars must have seat belts" , the number of deaths on the highways has gone down drastically from a high of over 50,000 in 1980, to a low of 34,000 a couple of years ago. Now it has gone back up (probably due to texting while driving) to 37,000. But that is still 35 percent less, with about 120,000,000 million more people and millions of more cars. Why? After the seat belt order took effect, other safety improvements were made. Air bags, harness belts, crumple zones, safety lights..(like that one in the rear window)..side impact airbags...etc.. Tens of thousands of lives have been saved, but I don't think I have ever heard him brag about it.

Hear is a link where you can check the numbers out..Note that after 1981, there was at first a gradual decrease, and then a continues decrease in deaths due not only the seat belts but other safety devises that were required. Also Carter pioneered the increase of safety devises on highways..guards on side of highways. certain kinds of signs, etc. Remember, Carter's appointee ordered that seat belts be required..That is saving thousands of lives a year, and he doesn't talk about making that decision...(know anyone saved by a seatbelt?..that was Carter's decision) .Take a look at the numbers.

gas guzzlers. Temporary feel good stuff that made things worse. As usual, people at the top got paid and Republicans thought it was great.

It's interesting to watch the media seeking him out these days, because the said corporate media never liked Jimmy Carter.
Decency was too boring for their ratings.

Carter is no stranger to swinging a hammer (for free!) to build a house for someone who otherwise wouldn't have one. See Habitat for Humanity.

Wonder how many homes tacky TrumPutin has helped build? He's so self-centered he hasn't even thought to brag/lie about doing so.

Or a chest of drawers that he's known for gifting? It's said that he's never charged a dime for any of his hand crafted furniture.

The next gen will see them on Antiques Roadshow 2040, unless republicans can end Public TV forever.

Many awful incidents, too many to mention..but, very important but,...NO MAJOR WAR BETWEEN THEM

yes, lots of minor crap, killings, ambushes..etc....but NO MAJOR WAR BETWEEN THEM

Carter was there to work out a deal. Egypt, Palestine, Israel. brokered by Carter....and guess what?

Like the seat belt thing, this has saved lives.. Major war between the 3 of them hundreds of lives..no war...lives saved. Very Important..!!!

Carter prevented war. Seatbelts lead the safety revolution in cars. That saved lives. I know someone who's life was saved by a seatbelt. Actually 2 people. Quite an accomplishment, and both of them didn't know who made it happen until I told them. Oh, and Republicans were the ones opposed to it, but since he made it mandatory, years later, and safety experts did predict it would save lives...they let it alone..and it went through since there was so much lead time in the requirement.
