The term was born in 2003 when the then Republican Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, Bob Ney, renamed the menu item in three Congressional cafeterias in response to France's opposition to the proposed invasion of Iraq. Although originally supported with several restaurants changing their menus as well, the term fell out of use due to declining support for the Iraq War. Following Ney's resignation as Chairman in 2006, it was quietly reverted.

Now there is a third and 4th and 5th kind, and more. Some, like myself, joined not for "God and country," or because they were going to be "fuck'ed up lifers" but to feed the kids. "My Army" was during the Viernam era with the draft. I never "joined" because I even wanted to serve. I served because my country called on me to serve, and if I didn't, someone else would have to take my place.

I thought after I posted my initial comment that I should take it down because, as you say, it has changed, and there are valid, good reasons to serve. But then I thought, "leave it up...that WAS my experience."

I seldom rub things in the faces of Trump supporters, because at the end of the day we are all in the same boat together, but...

I CAN NOT wait to see Fox News, their viewers and the President blow a gasket over the new Nike Colin Kaepernick ad!

Blow that gasket!
Just Do It!!

Hannity gets ads cut by Keurig? They destroy their Keurigs.

NFL knee controversy? They destroy their NFL merchandise.

Nike signs Colin Kaepernick? They destroy their Nike merchandise.

ABC signs Roseanne to a revival of her show and makes it about Trump? We just change the channel.

Stay classy, guys.

However, I can't bring myself to pay more something just for a logo when there are comparable alternatives that cost less. I'm sure there are issues with their overseas factories, but to be honest the shoes and clothing I buy now were likely made in the same conditions.

I do helps this works out for them, though.

most American's fascination with brand names and brand name symbols, and celebrity. I fear that rampant consumerism could help bring about our eventual economic downfall, as we're encouraged to spend, spend, spend. And, we've help spread that false sense of value to much of the world.

The corporate world also took away the value of saving (other than for a safety net), so most people say: "what the heck, may as well spend it". They truly do control much of our people's thinking and actions.
