Get the fringers in the GOP going once Obama wins.

What other solution does the GOP have, they lack any ideas.

His party is so far to the right of even the record of his tax cheating butt that he can't simply go "well I am selecting Olympia Snowe to be my running mate." There were no good choices that could look interesting and energetic while not depressing his base or making Romney look like he was trying to ressurect the ghost of Joseph McCarthy.

And that is the game this year. There are fewer "undecideds" to convince so he has to turn out his base as hard as he can while not tossing all of those few undecideds away OR scaring democrats into turning out more. This part of his campaign is no-win. No VP was going to help his chances so he seemed to stupidly gamble on one that he thought wouldn't hurt him.

It was a dumb gamble, considering his choice.
