Lincoln was not the 'keynote' speaker at the dedication of the cemetaries at the Gettysburg battlefield. The real orator spoke for over an hour or an hour and a half, IIRC. Speechifying was a big deal back then, and considered a form of entertainment, so to speak.

Lincoln was asked to offer a few closing remarks after all of the main shows, ceremonies, and speeches were done.

Which is what he did.

Trump's more in the former category, spewing hours of drivel that noone will remember in a few years. Lincoln was a statesman, who was frugal with his words when the situation called for it, and very eloquent.

"my (Republican) approval ratings" recited at every speech. The only question is which should be considered a national treasure (perhaps them all?), and the only wonder is that his greatness is not appreciated in his own day.

Lincoln move over -- the greatest great is coming.
