More white teens acting like idiots

They actually thought it was a great idea to pass around a watermelon while playing against an inner city team of mostly black players. A friend on Facebook was at the game and was disgusted by it.

My phone is older and a bit touchy, not doing what I always want.

Yes, there are a few AA kids in the crowd but my friend said it was done directly in front of the opposing school and that they were taunted with chants about giving them watermelon instead of a win.

I'd have beat my child if she'd ever thought of something like that in high school. When we made national news over a year ago for turning our backs I was proud to say my child wasn't one of them, even though she was at the game. She was one of the kids who spoke out and said it wasn't right.

3. Ballard is a decent school for athletics. Fed from above average cost homes

They’ve fed some good players to UofL and other colleges.

Apparently the privileged kids of asshole parents feel empowered by Twitler and his white nationalist admin.

She is absolutely disgusted with what she saw.

I play games every day and people post their Discord links. Kids have extremely "edgy" racist and sexist views. It's really sad. And it's not just young white guys, it's minorities and girls, too.

10. The school apparently jumped on this quickly

An acquaintance back in Louisville sent me a screenshot of an email sent by the principal

The watermelon was confiscated rather quickly and and an effusive apology was included while also stating it was unknown why it was there but they will investigate

My son, who attends Ballard showed me the picture this morning. I said what hell is that!!?? He said they do it at the home games, it was done last week during Collins game as well, which is a school in Sheblyville that is 95% White. I said well it’s not a good look, what’s the point and went on to school him why! They do it to show they will smash the other team. Not thinking of the racial overtones.

My point is these kids were just being stupid and this wasn’t a racist act. But if Central had seen it, last night could have been very bad!!! With today’s climate it doesn’t go over good.

This is a teaching moment and I bet it won’t be done anymore!
