Detroit food truck owner says she received online threats after refusing to serve cops

The owner of a Detroit food truck said she was threatened online by Trump supporters and All Lives Matter activists after announcing last week that she wouldn’t serve police officers.

Rocky Coronado, owner of Rocky’s Road Brew in Detroit, wrote on Facebook that she would not serve police officers, The Detroit News reported on Saturday, a day after the online post.

"The majority of my neighbors, customers, and myself do not feel safe around law enforcement agents (ICE, DPD, Homeland Security, etc)," Coronado wrote, referencing the acronyms for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Detroit Police Department. "I have asked friends from the National Lawyers Guild and I am well within my rights to refuse service to law enforcement agents.”

"This for the safety of my neighbors and customers (who have all become friends) and myself," Coronado wrote in the post, which included a photo that read: "We reserve the right to refuse service to cops."

The post ended with the hashtags #blacklivesmatter and #refugeeswelcome.

Coronado wrote the next day that she had been harassed online.

“Since then All Lives Matter, ‘Patriots,’ MAGA, & ‘Christians’ have been slandering, threatening, and harassing the business via Facebook,” a Saturday Facebook post read. “These people, their code switching, their hate, their ignorance shows me I’m on the right path. These people are the threat to freedom, equality, & peace in America.”

she has the right to not serve people whom she so chooses. Personally I would be scared to death to have ICE or homeland security persons around me.

Or actively or passively cover for violent sociopaths.

All of them need to get it through their skulls just how dysfunctional and outright criminal their profession has become. If there are any good ones, they need to begin seriously addressing this dysfunction.

These people have every right to make their customers feel safe from violent criminals who have no accountability.

I don't have the stats on hand about the number of people shot by LGBTQ people seeking a cake, but I do know that some cops have shot unarmed innocent citizens.

I wouldn't want people from that community (cops) hanging out and making my other customers nervous. Plus, cops often pressure restaurants for freebies all the time. I try to avoid cops as well, you never know when one might snap.

I definitely wouldn't want ICE hanging out at my establishment. The death threats coming from the Trumpers are totally unacceptable. though.

Like zoning. Don't tell me what to do with my personal property; wait my neighbor painted their house purple! Stop them!

Everyone is free to do what they see as important until it impacts them.

Fuck the individual free people police if they don't like it. Go get fat somewhere else.

some of them. That's just not right, IMO. That's ascribing to an entire group the deficiencies of a few belonging to that group.

An occupation is not in a protected class, but it's still the essence of discrimination. It's still wrong, IMO. I don't buy the "we don't feel safe" reason.

And of course, the reaction by the Trumpers is, as usual, like the schoolyard bullies they are.
