PoliticoLevi Sanders, son of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, was trounced Tuesday in a New Hampshire congressional primary, set to finish thousands of votes behind the projected winner.
The elder Sanders declined to endorse his son, saying the family does not believe in "dynastic politics." Levi Sanders, according to a New York Times report, is the senator's only biological child; he also has three children from his wife's previous marriage.
Levi Sanders was one of 11 candidates vying for the Democratic nomination in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District, a seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter. The seat has seesawed between Shea-Porter and Republican Frank Guinta in every election since 2010.
State Executive Council member Chris Pappas was the victor in the race for the Democratic nomination. With about three-fifths of the vote counted, Pappas had 45.4 percent of the vote; his closest challenger has already conceded the contest.

How did Jane Sanders funnel more than 500k to her daughters for-profit woodworking business during her tenure as President of Burlington College and get away with it?

Public records examined by the online paper reportedly show OMeara Sanders was paid more than $90,000 for consulting and ad placement services between 2002 and 2004, while Driscoll received $65,000 from the campaign over the course of four years.

Jane Sanders wears many hats at the institute: founder, fellow, fundraiser and a non-voting member of the board of directors. The institute is being run by her son, David Driscoll, a political neophyte who previously worked at Burton Snowboards. His estimated salary for the job is $100,000.

(31,125 posts)Some assure us that new, young people, especially newcomers to politics, ARE THE ANSWER.
We are about to find out, arent we. Lots of them running.
We will see what the winners among that category do when in power. Will they initially defer to those with experience, learn, grow and act out carefully given their lack of experience?
Or will they make brash, bold and loud pronouncements about doing this or that, accomplishing little that way since the opposition is always a bigger problem than we want them to be.
Time will tell.
