flimsy.

So though, were some of Salazar's own claims which she stretched from little tiny elements of truth to disingenuous purpose. Of everything I read, the one thing, if it can be validated, that I found the most troubling is a post she made, not as herself, but with the intention of giving credibility to an argument she was making in which she supposedly claims lifelong Jewish heritage. She did not do that as herself, the candidate, but it does suggest that she is willing to embellish or relate things in a way that she thinks is most politically expedient. That's irritating, and not exactly the things I loved most about Clinton either, from the hot-sauce in her purse, to landing under fire.

Hopefully she doesn't learn the wrong lessons from her victory, or she's going to implode and hurt progressivism in the process.

The answer to a candidate lying about where she was born and therefore not an immigrant — bring up Hillary and hot sauce. How desperate. Russia loves you. Hillary was brilliant in that Active Measures movie about how Russia spread propaganda such as yours. She had the most perfect cameos.

her to be pandering at times, unnecessarily. I think she's a great American though, even if I disagree with some of her political and rhetorical choices. She deserves all the credit in the world for trying to make a big impact on health-care.

There's no question that the right-wing and Russia used everything in their arsenal to take down Clinton. But some of those things never needed to be in their arsenal.

My point was not actually whataboutism was it? I talked about how this could be a real problem for Salazar if this is how she behaves going forward, and how it will hurt us and progressivism. Ah...but Russia thanks me. And people pretend that its the Sanders folks who are thin skinned.

Who would think to compare a quip about hot sauce to someone lying about their birthplace/immigrant status while simultaneously trying to stifle any talk that is not fan sanctioned about Sanders. Note that none of this was about Clinton or Sanders, JCanete, until you brought it up.

attack that has nothing to do with lying about where you were born to fake an immigrant status. This is how ingrained the Clinton derangement syndrome is, while simultaneously working to stifle any comparisons to Sanders. What if I brought up the FBI bank fraud investigation and “pandering” when neither Hillary Clinton or Jane Sanders have anything to do with this thread. This is how conditioned people are to attacking Democrats. That’s what I brought up about Russia. They saw this tendency and exploited it.

things on this board about Clinton than you have ever said about Sanders or any democratic socialist here. I'd also venture that I've been more critical of Sanders on some issues, and Salazar here, than you've ever been of any of those who you think should not be the target of criticism because...Russia. For my part, I'm capable of nuance and at least putting effort into not allowing confirmation bias to cloud my perspective. Can you say the same? Can you think of a time when you've done this? You don't even have to share it with me...just...do some self-reflection.

because you can get away with it shows how bogus your self-review is. Now you’re trying to deny the very essence of what the current so-called “socialist” groups are about. Bashing Democrats isn’t socialism. It’s something else.

This thread isn’t about Clinton.

But the constituents of District 18 were apparently untroubled by Salazar’s recent string of bad press. Her victory is yet another indication that the status quo is, on the local level, under serious assault in the Democratic Party. Salazar’s platform was particularly focused on affordable housing and tenants’ rights, issues that resonate with most New Yorkers. She also staked out positions far to the left of her opponent, such as calling for ICE to be abolished, and refused to take corporate money, fueling her campaign with small donations and a fleet of grassroots activists.

I just hope for our sake she isn't talking a good leftist game just to get elected only to go batshit crazy once in office like Tulsi Gabbard...

And for the record, Trump's message "resonated with voters", too...

Their goal isn't to increase a Democratic majority. They want to have a large enough caucus to hold legislation hostage.
