General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHow come yesterday on DU it was "Manafort pleads guilty - no cooperation?"
And today, "this afternoon" Manafort pleads guilty. AND he's cooperating. Where did those stories come from yesterday? I didn't get my usual dose of MSM yesterday.

(7,964 posts)Our side is actually on a long winning streak between the Mueller probe and election results but some on here can't seem to accept that.

(18,515 posts).... with his the hand he was dealt very very close to his chest. A wild supposition is the closest one can get to predict how he plays his hand and what power cards he holds.

(11,767 posts)They may have put out that Manafort was going to plea to avoid trial BUT that they were not entertaining a cooperation agreement. Seth Abramson was tweeting about it yesterday.
Some folks on DU were very upset that it was a given that Manafort was going to skate out of the trial and that Mueller was going to give away the farm. Some are still seeming to be upset that any deal was struck even with a cooperation agreement.

(5,829 posts)and bloggers and twitter pundits who don't know any more than the rest of us, were sure that Manafort would hold out for a pardon but it seems Manafort gave up on expecting anything from Trump who was stringing him along.

(38,729 posts)With good reason to be so - Iran/Contra, Clinton's Impeachment, the Iraq War, Abu Graib, Fitzmas, Merrick Garland, Birth Certificate, etc. ad nauseum, and Justice was rarely delivered to the perpetrators. For instance, Dick Cheney is still alive.
Until yesterday it was still unknown WHY Manafort was risking to trial & prison - and then why he'd change his mind - to take a bullet for Trump? because he was afraid of Novochok?
We're (still) on the precipice of Autocracy, and Trump has plenty of levers left to pull. Caution is warranted.

(7,629 posts)As I have said since very early on Mueller leaks but only what he wants Trump to know or think he knows. A few well placed leaks and Manaforts family is safe. Trump doesn't have a chance to pull the trigger on pardon. Actions my friends not words.
