I thought they had her hiding/swiping Oxy to treat her bad knee in one of the episodes, so....

It really sucked the way that Roseanne jeopardized the livelihoods of the entire cast and crew for the show. Now they’ll get a chance to earn a living again without that psycho hovering over their heads.

… how is an overdose cruel? It could be informative. Having the character "Rosanne" hit by a truck would be cruel. Having her raped and beaten to death would be cruel. Having her character overdose on painkillers is meaningful - and might really help people.

They're actually giving her a meaningful, poignant way out that would have left the audience thinking fairly kindly of her character and by extension, her.

And she whines about it.
